Ok boy's, after blowing my engine up on the way home from the original WSID private track day it been a long wait finally my engine finally is finished and the blower is hooked up. So far I have fitted to the engine

Diamond L67 Coated Piston/Rin/Ring Kit, 8.0:1
L32 rods
ATI Performance Balancer
Double chain timing set with sprocket (balance shaft removed)
HS 3rd generation full rocker arms 1.6:1 ratio adjustable
Lightened High Performance pushrods
Intense Nitrous / Blower 3800 camshaft
Manley Severe Duty Stainless steel intake\exhaust valves
Comp Cams "OE R Series" Hydraulic Roller Lifters
Comp Cams High load valve springs
Comp Cams titanium Valve spring retainers
Comp Cams high performance valve locks
ARP Head stud kit, ARP con rod kit, ARP main stud kit
Cometic MSL Head Gasket (0.052" thick)
Intense oil pressure kit

It hasn't quite got to where I was hoping for but its getting there. It made 438rwhp @ 6000rpm running just 12psi boost. I originally made my pulleys up so that the Vortech V2SQ blower would be at max impeller speed running at 6800rpm, Unfortunately my 600hp fuel pump wont allow for it and gave up at 6000rpm and leaned right out. It had pressure but could not flow any more. The engine still feels like it has plenty left in it aswell, I need to organise a surge tank, bigger fuel pump and some custom fuel rails before I can go any further.

This thing is absoIutely wild to drive, I have the getrag 5spd with a kaaz 3.9 and 1st and 2nd are basically a waste of time. 2nd gear at any stage, any rev if you give it sqeeze it will instantly bag up the wheels. But on the same note cruises @ 1500rpm in top gear like a stocka, which I am very happy with. I have a video clip of the power run linked below aswell of one of the engine bay giving it a bit of stick.

also in the sc thread below you can see some engine bay pics and dyno graphs (mods delete link if this is not allowed)

very nice and great power from the ecotec.

any estimations on how much you spent on it to get it to that power level. how much boost you planing on running into it?

Good to see some decent HP out of the ol 3800. Whats it like without the balance shafts?

Im still a fan of the ol 3800. :D

I guess $$$ wise all up would be in the region of 30k, the engine cost a fair wack, plus it has haltech, custom ignition etc.

I am tossing up at the idea of fitting a V7 atm and seeing how far this baby can go, as the V2SQ is close to being maxed. But I would like to think with another 1000 revs and a bigger fuel system I can give 500rwhp a go.

It idles like a stocka without the balance shaft, you really cant tell the difference. If anything it idles smoother than it did before. The key I guess is getting it all properly balanced.

That is a truely awesome result. Makes me kind of miss my supercharged VS Calais.... :bawl:

Stock Buick GSX 3.8L turbo .. would give a 454 LS6 Chevelle SS a good run for it's money. Like the old cast-iron small-block Chev, the 3800 still has a lot of tricks up is sleeve and a lot of life left in it yet!

Definately, and there is plenty to come dont worry. Mine is just the first wave of 300+rwkw cars to come out in the coming months.

Congrats. Good results from the little engine that could, but the AT to IT variance is giving you a helping hand... ;)

Many years ago I learnt that centrifugal blowers with their linear boost dont provide enough area under the curve for a "small" displacement V6. Your 3.9s and 5sp box will probably mask this somewhat.
There is massive potential there with a well matched turbo, and some lower diff (3.45) gears. Cmon you know you want to :)

The intake temp is a lot higher than normal, it normally hovers around a few degrees within the AT when driving. The result did come after a soild day on the dyno doing 30 odd power runs. So I assume the inlet pipe work being above the extractors got a fair bit hotter than usual sitting stationary on the dyno.

awesome results! Would like to see your next step!!!

Yeah, I will make an appearance if I can. Havent had a car since last year so its just great to be driving something decent again, atm all I want to do is drive.

Look to your injectors before forking out fore more pump , they are well and trully maxed out at that level - did your tuner check the injector duty cycle ?

Your IAT fudge on the dyno graph is giving you some extra 34 hp but still awesome numbers out of your combo.

Get some 43lb or 62 lb injectors to make the most of your combo :D those 36lb ones in the photo are struggling ( hence why you still have pressure but no more fuel to the engine)

I have bosch 500cc injectors. Equilalent to 50lb I believe.

edit: The fuel pump is a 600hp bosch external fuel pump aswell.

Delco, your obviously a very educated in the art of getting power. But I dont understand your comment on the IAT fudge as those were the actual temps. Can you elaborate a bit more, are you telling me that my results are not correct? Not trying to have a go, genuinely interested.

Not trying to take anything away from you mate , its a good achievment - the photos looked like the std supercharged V6 injector ?

The IAT fudge is where somone places the temp probe for the IAT ( dyno ) near the engine bay , you should only ever see a 2-3 deg difference between IAT and RT as that is the air the engine is breathing.( you have a 20+ degree difference) takes the correction factor from a truer 0.974 to about 1.048 - common practice amounst the inaccurate.
Either way 400 or 430 is still really awesome power from a little V6

Yeah no worries Delco, I was just after your profesional opinion. You can see the intake temps when you log in with the halwin software (I have a haltech E6X) and it seemed to be right to me, as i was actually present when the final runs were being done. It had spent a solid day on the dyno so i just put it down to that. Also I was hoping that if I got a bigger fuel pump the 50lb injectors would be able to support up to 500rwhp, is this a dream or should I be ok.

If your fuel pressure and flow are not dropping off more pumps etc will not help , if the duty cycle of the injector is maxed then bigger flowing injectors are required , at 6000rpm you have 10ms to inject max ie 100% duty cycle , so if you cant get the required fuel in in that amount of time higher flowing injectors are the only option.

halwin softare is not connected to the dyno or compensation.
