argh, they favour anything they can get into and away with and then easily get rid off... Good ol' fashioned journalism, been at uni so long these days they have forgotten what the population actually wants!

"And in other news, the Commodore has been the best selling car in the country almost every year since 1989, including every single year since 1997.

Idiot journalists denied that there might be some sort of connection between the high number of Commodores stolen and the clearly higher number of Commodores on the road compared to every other type of car.

Sources refused to comment on suggestions that the *rate* of car theft rather than absolute numbers may have been a more meaningful statistic.

After the break, we'll discuss a new report that has found that houses are more dangerous to live in than railway tunnels because more houses reported burglaries in the past year."

Even pro rata they are the most popular stolen car.

That might be true, but the article doesn't say that...

"Holden Commodores made between 1984 and 1994 were most likely to be stolen by "opportunistic" thieves, such as thieves looking for a car to commit another crime such as burglary."

ok... so... if you have a >10 year old car you're in the highest risk bracket for theft... i'd say thats true for most cars... theres probably a lot more older model commos on the road than anything else!

yet more cutting edge journalism *snicker*

why wouldnt thieves favour em
you can turn the barrel on a majority of pre 89 model holden
then you can basically steal with min ease any model from vn-vt with min amount of effort or tools

same with fords from the same era

either turn the barrel or use a screw driver or even a dipstick

nothing new though

hahaha, funny you mention the dipstick method.....

we have an old beater EA fairmont ( with the factory fitted head gascot failure mod ) that sits outside the house, and twice it has been stolen to use as a personal taxi by the drunks  . twice we have got it back and it has the old dipstick in the ignition....

i think they have learnt now it is the easiest car to pinch in the street :(
