As for G/B what kind auto or manual? I think autos can be found second hand from around 1000 to 1500+ depending on the k's its done, from there if you wanna trick them up anywhere from 1500 to 3000+ with the works from what I have researched.

say auto as it will be going in a hilux manual may still be an option so thanks for the info azza also i would prefer second hand as it will b that little bit cheaper i would imagine

An engine will set you back $3-4000 for a complete running 2nd hander with 3 months warranty from a wrecker. Brand new $5-6,500.

A 2nd hand 4 speed auto you can source from $500-1000, dont pay anymore, I knew a guy with 1 out of a VX SS, he couldnt sell it for $300 and it only had 26,000kms on it.

6 speed, anywhere from $1,500 for the box to $2,500 complete with shifter, pedals, etc.

Anymore and its over priced if standard.

You can get brand new complete VY crate motors for $5000.....whilst wreckers are still asking $4500.
Wreckers want $3000 for a 6 speed.....can get new for $3300

yes be careful, wreckers can over charge and like above you can buy new nearly for the same price

thanx for all the info as im only weighing up my options at the moment as cash flow aint so good i can afford the auto box as i have enough for the lux & all the strengh reguired to hold 400rwk & to get it enginered but i will prob wait another 2 years b4 i do it as i am on my l's & can't drive a v8 fo atleased 2 years
