Well I finally bit the bullet and got a set of 4.10 diff gears put in the Crewie. The transformation is truly impressive, most noteably the driveability.
Another bonus is the new nonexistence of diff whine and drivetrain backlash.
Sixth gear is now useable and first and second are weapons. :D

Cheers

Chris.

I have a stock VY crewman ss manual with the 3.46 ratio. I find it struggles to get moving from a stand still when towing half its rated towing capacity and four people in the car with out distroying the clutch. I also dont use 6th as the car uses less fuel in 5th even when travelling at 120kph.

where did you get the 4.1 diff gears from and how much did they cost. Also what RPM does your car sit on at 100kph in 6th.

With the 3.46's, 100kph in 6th = 1375rpm, with 4.10's, 100kph in 6th = 1650rpm. As for fuel economy(with the 3.46's) at a steady 100kph in 5th = 11.5l/100kms.When in 6th gear at 100kph it used exactly the same amount of fuel while pulling 625rpm less. Have'nt done a long enough run yet (with the 4.10's) but I suspect I might get under 11l/100kms whilst using 6th gear.

DEVOJET, you have a pm.

Thanks Chris,
I'll be giving them a call on Monday.
I've just got a new clutch fitted and will get headers / system, induction and diff etc done.
