Hey guys looking for some help with O2 sensors Im onto my 4th set in 50000. Im wondering why they seem to fail so often and if there are any better O2s than the factory Holden units I have a GM 2 cam and tune twin 3" difillipo and OTRI. Its giving me the S#!TS half my ownership has been spent chugging and coughing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You've not burning oil are you? 2.5L in 10,000km (Holden "approved" amount), could easily contaminate the OS2 regardless of what exhaust system you have?

Are the OS2 sensors in the same relative position? The same "heat position" in the system too?

no not burning any oil but the sensors are about 300mm further down the exhaust had to get wires extended.

One of the reasons Holden moved the O2 sensors closer was to try and combat premarure failure, but 300mm should not cause the type of failure you are having. One question though, they are designed to go a certain distance into the bung, if that distance is changed it could change their effectiveness as well as longevity. Make sure they are projecting exactly to standard specs into the pipe.

Yeah they seem to install the same distance in as the stock exhaust I would have thought that Difillipo would have the female sensor hole set up correctly. Holden have replaced 2 pair under warranty but now their saying well its modified so tuff.

Go HERE (http://www.plxdevices.com/M-Series_productinfo.htm) and have a look at a wideband setup.

Thanks Mongy but this still doesnt tell me why they keep failing?

gday JHP1
Did you have std exhaust when first 2 sets of O2 were replaced?
Spoke to a dealer today about O2 sensors and the line was "aftermarket exhaust = no warranty on O2 sensors"
You might find Thunder's thread on warranty in General Automotive an interesting read.

No I had a fault code at around 1000ks fitted exhaust and induction etc before 1500 service. At service they blamed exhaust but replaced O2s explained that fault code occurred before exhaust but you know what thats like blank expressions.
