I'll be there, but by the skin of my teeth I reckon. Busy trying to get peoples cars done in time and I haven't even looked at mine yet  It's going to be a close one that's for sure. Just hoping at this stage my customers are not let down by other businesses as it in turn throws me out.
Either way for those attending please feel free to drop over and say hi to me. I'll be over against the northern wall near the dyno. Always good to meet new forum members

Sleep optional from this point forward...
My "little hiccup" happened Friday afternoon just before I arrived at the workshop to pickup the car for a weekend of detailing. I asked for a power run to be done with the final setup so that we knew everything was good to go. Well, good ol' Murphy showed up, didn't he! The left hand head gasket decided it was done. :( I guess a little extra boost is not always a good thing... ;) Nothing too serious, as the guys picked it up right away. It still made 500 rwhp at 4000 rpm before backing out. They went to work immediately, diagnosed the issue, and got things rolling. Maverick headed down there on Saturday to lend a hand, and both heads were off and checked by lunch time. Good news is that the internals look absolutely pristine, even after 10,000 kms on this build (remember this thing makes 875 hp and 820 ft/lb of torque and has done countless dyno comps, drag nights, and track days to make up that 10k). Gasket damage was really minor, and new ones arrived today. Heads are already back on and they just have to reinstall the manifold and a table full of other bits and pieces and she'll be back ready for testing again. Those of you who've been through this, know what we're going through right now, and for those of you who haven't, I am sure you can imagine. ;)
Thanks go out to all on the "team" just to get to today.
Rick (IH8WRX) has been extremely flexible in trying to help me get the car detailed for the show, and he's going to need to be really flexible to work around the hoist tomorrow morning... ;)
Maverick has been awesome in helping me through this entire preparation exercise too.
For better or for worse, preparation for these types of shows always seems to be one heck of a exercise, but hopefully the results will be worth it. I'm very proud of my little "streeter" and both myself and those around me are working hard to present it in the best light that we can. If you saw the write up in Street Commodores magazine, then there will be much more to see now, as I've done a ton of work to it since then. On the power front, quite honestly, I'll be over the moon if it repeats last years results given what we've been through this week already. On the all round "streeter" front, there has been much progress, and as those of you who know me know, I'll be more than happy to talk about it on the weekend... :D
Looking forward to an excellent weekend. The most important part for me is the journey to get there, and the people I'll get to meet (again) on the weekend.
Now, could you ALL PLEASE PRAY FOR FINE WEATHER ON FRIDAY!!!

I "believe" Phonsy is going to be there with a stand for RIPShift. Harrop has a stand. PowerTorque has a stand. Quite a few sponsors will be there.
If you have a M6 and you haven't tried the RIPShift yet, I HIGHLY recommend you get in there are try it on Phonsy's stand. This is how I came to "believe"... ;)

Well it seems Graeme from this show is not a man of honour at all. Not only did he sell my trade stand out from under me, he seems content to bad mouth me to other vendors at the show. A written contract is not enough for this man. To say im very disappointed with his total lack of professionalism is an understatement.

What did it make in Adelaide mate?
Can't wait to see all the new stuff on display at the show. I've heard of plenty of hard work being done, and there's nothing better (IMHO) than being able to view and appreciate the efforts of other enthusiasts...

Well, I survived setup day! It was awesome to see so many familiar faces again.
The cars are just incredible this year. I don't know how your shows went down south, but the quality of entries this year is just outstanding!!! If you get a chance to come in, I'm pretty sure you'll be happy you did. There appears to be less cars overall, and more trade stands. Can't wait to see the dyno comp... There's been so many new products on the market since last year, and so many records have been broken on the track, that we should see some pretty cool dyno numbers. Not just from our bretheren either; I saw some pretty wild stuff around the room today - old school and modern...

Yes I tried much to the owners disgust :D
I too have survied the "set-up" day, although exhausted, 3 inches shorter fingers from polishing so many cars and generally knackered!
There are some sensational cars on display, with some awesome American old school muscle.
I can honestly say this is the best class of show cars I've ever scene before.

No. what happened was that the owner needed to squeez in three more cars, and I gave the spots up as I didn't think we would need all that room. In the end I was out by one car so I had to ring one owner who hadn't been very nice to deal with and was pissed at me becuase I couldn't detail their vehicle yesterday as I simply couldn't get through the flood water down my way. I was spoken to like a dog so I was kind of relieved anyway. But no that rumor is not true.
I will make comment tho again this year as I did last year, and that's that the bloody HSV guys seem to get friggen ample room alocated to them, and shit don't they use it to! If those guys were a little more considerate and moved their stand closer together there would be easily another 5 car spaces.

Well.. just got back from the show.
plenty of  worthy cars in there.. The PT guys have their usual array of perferctly presented cars. Roarz & IH8WRX both presented beautifully... well done Rick.. a credit to you.
The dyno set up was a real drawcard.. and congrats to the prmoters.. only problem was (as Mongy rightly pointed out) it was very hard to see the dyno read out screen.
A good splash of female skin about too!
Almost every car was immaculate.. although one or two did not live up to the hype :hmmm: .
One thing I would like to make comment on though.. for those guys investing in trade stands.. make SURE the people on the stands KNOW about your product! You usually only get one shot at selling your product to a potential customer.. and there is nothing worse than a good product being (under)sold by someone that knows next to nothing about it (even if they do have other redeeming qualities http://www.xtrememass.com/forum//images/smilies/1026/boobs.gif
All in all though, a little smaller than i had expected.. but well worth a look..
I'd agree with "pagey", it was a little smaller than I thought it would be, but there was plenty to look at, and aside from having the plasma screen on the wrong side of the dyno area, the dyno was good to watch.
Congrats to Brett.....ROARZ put out 707rwhp which is nothing to be sneezed at (excuse the forced induction pun!).
There was a few ricers here and there, but I guess people need a laugh!
Hammer

yeah what was funny tho was there was a pink ricer next to a fully modded ls1... was rather funny, and the owner of the ricer was bragging on about it or some bs to that extent... i thought to myself why dont you whack it up on the dyno....

It was good to meet you and other LS1 members that I haven't met before.
It was good to see LS1 guys get up there and run some good numbers. Rhys had a dam good run in his black monster (must of been those coats of Zaino bud :D ) XCAV8 put out a bloody good time, the "who's your daddy" 7.8 of Rob's black missile comes along and drops everyones jaw and then you have good old Brett in the ever reliable ROARZ who first turn lays down a 707hp  But I'm very dissapointed that there was no fireworks from Brett this year in the form of one big ass angle grinder :D
All in all it is a good show. Got to admit the numbers seem to be down a fair bit on the past few years as I remember last year it was shoulder to shoulder in the halls. Fingers crossed numbers pick up today.

Not with an unopened engine tuna. You know better than most that 700-1000rwhp isnt going to happen with a bolt on blower, turbo or anything else.
Who cares, its a show. All I am saying is the bar was several times higher a year ago. Now its just sorta average....

Several years ago 500rwhp would have won the show, now we see it with bolt on's. Summernats is 1300+ rwhp these days.
Its all relative.

I just got an SMS advising that one of our (Harrop) Supercharger kits pulled a 507rwkw on the Green Monaro.
It is an unopened auto ... never even had the rocker covers off.
Can anyone confirm?
:burnout:
I'm guessing it was rwhp not rwkw.. as the dyno was displaying hp...
I last saw it go 450rwhp or there abouts.. Great job on it.. looked sounded stock as.. although I did hear pinky say it is/was intercooled.. but i couldn't see it. Would give a few people a fright I think.

I agree Tuna, While there was some nice cars the show is far below the standard of Summernats etc. No media coverage, no publicity, not even some signage out front. at 10am there was maybe 30 ppl wanting to get in. People arent building cars to win, they just go there for something to do. A bunch of cars sitting on bare concrete with less than 50 ppl looking at them doesnt have the same atmosphere. Some of the cars were truely works of art and presented very well. Overall i think not getting a stand there wasnt a bad thing. There just wasnt the people or the atmosphere i had expected.

Lets face it, unopened LS1s winning dyno comps is pretty weak. Even weaker when for the first three shows it was Phonseys cam only LS1 that beat all the blown LS1s. His words were "Im embarrassed to win like this!"
No one of any note is even remotely interested.

Thats kinda harsh Tuna. You can't possibly compare the CAPA car to ordinary streeters. Horses for courses.
Whats special about this is that 500rwhp is within reach of the average Joe just by bolting on a blower and exhaust that takes 2-2.5hrs and a tune to suit. Who wouldn't be happy with that?
Most ordinary drivers aren't going to want a 700-1000hp car and have to pay for all the fruit to hold it together.
Methinks the bar needs to offer more than the top shelf stuff here. Theres top shelf and bottom shelf. Both get you pissed and it comes out the same colour a few hours later. ;)

With a peak readout of 507rwkw or 680rwhp behind an auto all on a stock engine without changing anything internally is AbSoLuTlEy FaNtAsTiC. Well done… Guys!
Obviously, there was a reasonable fuel system in place to support this power as you would, but…..I actually have a small question;
At what boost was this power made?

Well it's all over for another year.
First of all I'd like to say it was great to meet new forum members at the show.
Secondly a massive congratulations to Brett for his two back to back wins again! It couldn't have been won by a better, more deserving person and better built car! Honestly there are a lot of businesses out there that need to take a leaf out of Brett's book for building tough, big HP powered cars and still have the reliability and driveability. Mate if it was my choice, you would have won tough streeter hands down! Anyone else that accepts that award is fooling themselves.
Brad Lane, MRHDT. What can I say bud? All that hard work paid off mate and you finally got the recognition it deserves! Nice bloke, great car and good mate and it was a priveledge to have been along side you in the show.
Roll on Sydney :D (yes I am stupid, I've decided to give Sydney a go)

An incredible result. I didnt think the kit would have pushed enough air or cool enough air to run those numbers, but obviously I was wrong.
Was it in competion or was it a demo run? ie pump gas? What sort of boost?
10k bolt on 500rwhp drive in drive out is great value. Personally I still feel 500rwhp is a bit too much power for a stock eng and then expect the engine to last. Just my 5c and I know somebody will give me some change.
Once again well done boys. The result is there. Will it be at the Sydney show?

Brett, congrats again for your effort with 707rwhp, the car went and looked great, IH8WRX was immaculate, that is one nice bit of gear, Rhys Bennett’s ute absolutely looked and sounded fantastic, you just need to get rid of that baby cam Rhys  I think the 2 best trade stands had to go to Harrop and to PowerTorque, they were by far the standouts of the show. A lot of effort went into getting cars finished and there, Craig with his WB (PWR454) was still trying to finish it on Saturday morning and still managed to take out the prize. Crowd numbers were down but there was not a lot of advertising for some reason. I usually know when it is on from advertising but this year only knew about it from the forum. Anyway, congratulations to all who participated, give yourselves a pat on the back because you all deserve it

Thanks for the kind words folks.
To win LS1 and Overall Supercharged back to back is quite a buzz. I know there are always going to be other cars out there that make more power, but those of you that have seen my car and heard it run know just how much of a TRUE streeter it is. It's a beautiful car to own and drive, and it makes good hp - just what I wanted!
I want to send thank yous out to:
- Maverick (Jeff) who's countless pickups, dropoffs, errands, skinned knuckles, and late nights made this possible
- IH8WRX (Rick) who demonstrated just how flexible someone can be to help meet a schedule. When we were hit with a little surprise fix a week ago, and then all the rain of the last week, Rick made several trips up from the coast to help get the car's paint in tip top condition.
- My folks, and folks-in-law who made several of the items that went into the display for the weekend.
- Lexie and the kids who support me unquestionably through these events
- My workshop for putting the beast together! And back together in the last week when we had our little surprise last Friday...

We were on holidays in Queensland on the weekend and dropped into the show for a look.
Harrop quoted me the following for the same kit as fitted to the green Monaro;
92mm intercooled kit complete - $7991.50
Upgraded injectors - $701.00
85mm MAF upgrade - $370.00
Fit and tune - $1750.00
Drive in, smoke out price - $10,812.50 including GST.
And later on I can add the small pulley that the Monaro didn't have fitted for another $176.00, which is $10,988.50.
Tuna, where do you keep getting $12k from?
Have you ever actually rang Harrop yourself for a price?
The only "over 12K" kit that I could option up was their new VZ electronic kit that came in at $12187.50 for an intercooled kit with injectors which has only been released in the last couple of weeks.
Even the soon to be released LS2 kit is well under 12k.
Anyway, great show and well done everyone.

I feel the show in itself was very good. Of course, as entrants, we see all kinds of stuff behind the scenes, but the outward appearance was excellent. There were definitely less cars this year, but the minimum standard of the cars this year was much higher. Everywhere you looked, the cars were just incredible! It was a feast of motoring delight...
The two areas I'd like to see improved as an entrant going forward would be a published schedule for dyno runs and more detailed guidelines for judging. I had countless family and friends who wanted to come and see my car run, but without a ball park figure, it's hard to get them to come into the city. Most people can't afford in this day and age to come in for the whole day. I'm sure this would be the same for other cars that ran on the dyno. On the judging side, I'm having trouble working out how and where to improve the car to score better on the show side. I'm never going to build the car to beat IH8WRX, as we have different objectives, but it would be good to know if I'm improving year over year or not.
The LS1 community was extremely well represented again, with LS1's from all around town putting on a great show.
- IH8WRX looked absolutely immaculate, and took out best engine bay, 2nd hot Holden, and another top award that I forget right now (Sorry Rick).
- There was a BEAUTIFUL VX Clubby that took out Top HSV and a swag of other trophies as well. The work they have put into the car is astounding, including things like moulding a set of VZ side grilles into the body work; which looks even better than the VZ model as theirs are just a clip in. They are heading to Sydney too, and if you get a chance to see them and IH8WRX side by side, you'll be amazed by what you see.
- It was awesome to see EXCAV8 and CHEV7.8 doing their thing on the dyno after the long journey they have been on. I believe EXCAV8 cleaned up in their LS1 category too.
- Rhys' car was immaculate. Tough and incredibly clean. Great numbers on the dyno and a stance to suit it. Congrats!
- Bullet's (Sean) car is just gorgeous. What is it with those Monaros? The lack of a rear door, and the presence of excellent paint allows that rear section to just stand out like a master-craftman's canvas. He also won his category in the dyno comp.
- I know there were even more LS1's there, but I've probably reached my word limit for the day... Congrats to all is what I'd really like to say.
One of the things I enjoyed from the LS1 participants was the variety of setups. Strokers of all sizes, blowers of all types, lots of different cams, autos, manuals, etc, etc, etc. If you had come along to the show to get a feel for your choices, or to see the breadth of innovation in this space, you'd have been very happy. Only thing I didn't see was a turbo LS1. Not a single, nor a double... ;) The other good point of this, is that all of those combinations ran on the dyno.
The Capa Drift Ute was in attendance. Would have loved to see that run on the dyno! Very nicely setup vehicle that one.
Corupt gave us all what we wanted to see, which was to see it run on the dyno. Got to love Trent's attitude to these things. He said that it hadn't been run since his pirouettes down the straight at Willowbank and he didn't know how the engine had held up, but everyone kept asking to see it run, so he just said, "Yeah, chuck it on, and if it goes boom, then we were going to freshen it up anyway!". It's number was down, but we all appreciated the show. Love your work Trent!
Harrop's stand was awesome. The Monaro made 508rwhp from a $10,500 kit. Exhaust, edit, and a $10,500 kit to make 508rwhp is a great result. Given the reputation of a business like Harrop, you know it's the real deal too! Mario did mention to us that they'd be more conservative with the tune in a daily driven setup, but it would be nice to know as an owner that you can turn the wick up if you want to! I guess we'll be seeing more of these installed on pre-delivery new vehicles in the years to come. There was quite a few of those Hurricane intakes around too! The NA "bolt on" choice of power connoisseurs! ;)
Phonsy said several times that his participation was well worth it. I must have spoken with scores of M6 LS1 owners who raved about the RIPShift after trying in on their stand. I guess there will be a heavily-laden truck heading to Qld very shortly. It's great to see Aussie success such as this; Phonsy has wrapped this market up completely with a combination of a great product (always a good place to start), thorough testing, great marketing, and excellent followup. Congrats mate!
Thanks,
Brett

Thanks, and yes. 701.9 last year. I was a little surprised after the run to find out that "Shootout Mode" rules hadn't been followed, and I was running with only 28psi in the tyres. I had not checked personally due to the things I was focussing on. General thought is that with the prescribed 50 psi in the tyres, we might have seen 720 or 730. Who knows, and that's par for the course with dynos. All the same, I'm thrilled with my result.

I was wondering did anyone go to the AME (ford vs holden) motorshow? I went and since they changed it to any car I though the show sucked bad. I saw IH8WRX there his car was lookin fine. Oh that engine was dam shiny!
I though the show was a flop from what one of the girls told me  they only had 500 people come the first day and a few stalls pulled out as it was costing $700 a day to display a shop there.
There was basically no falcons in comparison to the year before I only saw 1 AU ts50 and no eb/el gt falcons. There was one section of commodores like VN that where hopeless. I saw better cars in the car park. These things had been painted at home and looked dodgy as. Also whats with the BA bonnet buldges on all the old commodores
The ad showed several cars (like evo) which where not even on display at the show. Now last year it was a huge line to get in this time there was nobody even there.
What did any other brisbane guys think? I though I just paid to see shops for car stuff and no actual cars. There where several stalls that didnt come this year like mal wood and c2r. I found 90% of the cars where there from people just to sell a particular product.
I think they should go back to ford vs holden :box: And that UGLY magna was there again when you walk in the doors, I felt sick!

I must say I was a little suprprised to win my category in the dyno comp. To be honest I was wasn't really planning on even running as the car still had its tank of BP Ulitmate, filter in the standard Monaro airbox and standard PWR kit at 5.5 psi. We didn't even bother running it on the dyno prior to the show but was quite happy with 407 rwhp.
I would like to congratulate all who participated. There were some truly awesome cars there on display.
Congrats to Power Torque for all their wins and also to you Brett for back to back victories. That car is a credit to you.
