DIY experts, your input if you please? I have just acquired a s/h catback 'zorst; custom-made stainless 2.5 and dual mufflers, 3" single centre pipe/resonator with dual outlets - came off an '02, probably SII. It has a joint just in front of the axle. Looks a high-quality bit of kit, guy who owned it is a fellow club member and said it has a nice note and added grunt, economy. It only cost $250 so I thought I'd give it a go.

Is it possible to get the stock exhaust off and the new one on with car stands, or is this a job for a carhoist? Do I jack up front first then rear, or vice-versa?

I know the primaries and O2 sensors were different pre-SIII, but I presume the rear should still bolt up. I need flange gaskets, yes?

I did a search and got indeterminate results.

hey fella, sounds like you scored a bargain!
there should be no probs getting everything done on jack stands as long as you don't mind laying on ya back for a while! my advice go and see your local mech. buy him a carton and use his hoist, much easier
i have had my system on and off again a couple of times with no probs on stands but it is a prick!! and it don't matter which end goes up first and yes definately buy some new gaskets

cheers jason..

I will be easier with 2 people - 1 at the front and 1 at the back as they tend to get heavy after a while and hard to line up the bolts etc by yourself.

Mate I did it about 3weeks ago on the wagon. I just reversed it up on some ramps. no need to jack the front up. & yeah slid under it & did the cold back thing. pretty easy quick job. only prob was the wgn exhaust was bloody heavy.
