I'm just in the throws of purchasing a new Clubsport R8 M6. Just wondering what are the best drive out, nothing left to pay prices people have managed to achieve.
Retail on a new R8 is just under $71K and about $75 drive away. Obvously we can do better then this but just interested to see how well people are doing out in the current market.

$60K drive away for a brand new 04' R8, my g/f purchased from Melbourne.
I wouldnt even think about paying anything over $65K for one drive away.
Theyre not selling, theyre all piled up in most showrooms. So if one dealer isnt willing to do you a good deal, move to the next.
Hope this helps.

I got 50k change over on one with leather, sunroof, alarm, paint, Fab, leather protection and they gave me 21k for my car. That was an 05 plate as well

So that was 71K not including the trade in?

John, why are you trading one of the nicest styled Commodores of all time for 1 which looks like a Lancer with an extra .3 litres? Time to get the custom OE look happening, VZ trim and colour, add a TT 427, voila, showcar quality and worthy display VX R8?

I was told $68 K drive away but if serious money talks.
I would expect to pay $64 if you have the money or finance ready to go.

My car is getting tired. I think I have given it enough punishment with 350 odd dyno runs (Cam, Nos, Supercharger, and turbo).
Time to play with an LS2 and see what we can get out of that

Well can you make it a TT 427 LS2? And shove the motor back into the VX? Or has the chassis twisted from all the power runs?

410 (LS2 with a 4"stroker crank) with a single turbo might be fun.
Accountant says time for new car. Who am I to argue

Sounds like a good deal John, what colour??
Every time I see that ad on TV with that red Clubbie being advertised it reminds me of how much I want one...ah well one day.

Congrats on the new ride John. Love the conservative paint thing but it all goes out the back door when theres a massive intercooler out the front doesn't it.
Can't wait to see the new beast.
Did you trade the old car in?

R8 comes standard with HSV premiums (4 spots all round) Thats plenty for my style of driving and perhaps the odd track day.

Yes, traded the old one in ($27,000) this covered the balloon on my existing finance.
Interesting, got the new R8 for the same price I bought my old R8 4 1/2 years ago except now finance interest rate is slightly lower. So it will actually cost me less per month for the new car. How good is that.

so the price of $62500 was including the 27k trade in aswell  you got what, close to 13k off retail price.
they must be desperate to get these things moving....so if you dont mind me asking, what was the initial drive away price the dealer gave you, was it 75 as you stated in the first post, or was it lover once they new you were serious.....
JohnW

Correct, 13K of retail drive away.
You are right, they are keen to move both clubbies and R8s which is all good for us.
Starting serious offer was $66,500.00 drive away and $26,500 trade in.

When I bought my VX 11 R8 CLubby it was a runnout model as the VY's were jsut about to launch. Got it for $58,000 drive away. That's a saving of around $17,000 if you take into consideration stamp duty on road costs etc on the retail price at the time of around $72,000. :)

some crazy bargains out there, how do they do it, are they losing money.
i posted in the mastercard thread a possible $44k 2004 clubsport auto, if this is correct you would be mad to buy an SS.
car is advertised for $47990, plus mastercard rebate of $3k plus 1k bonus till end of year, plus the deal HSV offer, Free onroads, cpt, rego, stamp and you come to that final price.
44k 2004 clubsport (http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=41627)
you could but that and sell it at a profit i think, i do not think it would be hard to sell for 48k privately would it

Did you guys now that there is a fee the holden / hsv pay the dealer if the stock sits around for more than 20 days they call it hold back and it can be up to 18% of the cost price. so they can give it back in bonuses if you screw them they give a bit to you. :)
