Well its been a while coming but I have finally got my car back on the road and it's now supercharged!

Once the install was finished I gave Sam's a call asking when I can bring it in, the next day it was on a tilt tray heading straight to Sam's for a LS1 MAFless edit and manual flash program to be put in for the manual conversion.

It took a little longer then I expected but this was at NO fuilt of Sam, he spent half the time waiting for a MAP sensor and most of the other time fixing my little stuff ups. (oil leak in return line, 11psi pulley)

Anyhow after having to swap pulleys around and Sam putting in better spark plugs for me the end result was 329.1rwkW with a very safe tune the stock valve springs crying to be replaced with a better set (this is still yet to happen)
Pretty good result I think!:D

When I went to pick the car up (well after working hours) Sam took the time to tell me a bit about it and told me to take it for a drive to make sure I'm happy with it before I take it.
There was a little problem with a vacume hose (controling the MAP sensor, hobb swichs etc...) coming off which Sam was quick to spot.
We then went for a little drive with a lap top on Sam's lap to fine tune the SS with my driving style which made this beast even better to drive.

So I payed the bill (Sam only charged me for the tune, nothing else! ) and off I went.
Driving home I started thinking of how dirty my car must be and I should give it a wash the next night after work but after pulling into a service station to fill up it was then I notice they had washed my car for me!
Well that just impressed me even more...I mean how many workshops do that????

From all the workshops I have dealt with over the years (heaps thats for sure) Sam is by far the best.
Other get your money and show you the door (not all others though) but Sam took the time to talk to me and made sure if I had any problems I'll ring him straight away and bring it back for him to look at.
What more could you ask for??

Thank you Sam, another happy customer here. :)

Good effort on fitting all that stuff yourself, mate!

So whats it feel like to drive? Heaps of power?

Hey mate, can you find out any many teeth your pulley has? The one i have on mine is supposed to be for 12psi and has 32 teeth. Looking at going to a 28 for faster spool and more boost higher in the revs.

Mines currently making 288rwkw@4500rpm before it runs out of fuel with only 6psi.

Great result Chris, gotta be happy with that. :D
Is the M6 better than the A4, with the 3.73's?

Enjoy the "NEW CAR".
Another tiger coloured car making good power. Just as it should be. ;)

The one that was on it when it made 11+psi was a 30 tooth pulley, I think Sam said at around 6200 RPM it was making 9psi but after that it shot up to 11psi and made 480rwhp!
The one thats on it now is a 32 tooth pulley making 441.3 rwhp at 6056 rpm (see dyno print out) at something like 8.5psi.

Great to see you are enjoying it Chris. Sam is a great guy if he thinks you are serious. What he liked about you Chris was that you new what you wanted. You asked for a nice strong car you could use everyday and left it with him to deliver your request which he has done. Most people want a Horsepower hero car from a stock engine and then want it to be a daily driver a dyno queen, top fueler and they would like it all from a tune. His answer to these people is sorry I cant help you and then they think he is arrogant. You now know the true Sam who just loves helping people make their car go fast and enjoy it.

Hi Chris, which Supercharger kit did you use ? The CAPA $4000 one or something else ?

Thanks.

Roger

PS Can you put up the torque graph too if possible please ??

Congratulations Chris. Thats a great result :D

Just curious on how much power difference there is between 9 & 11psi, anyone?

Yep Sam got around 480 rwhp before realizing what boost it was running, think of the shock he got because I told him it should run 9psi when I first sent the car to him.

Justice R8-One thing those forums have showed me is to be realistic with what I want,at one stage I wanted more and more power before even have any basic hi hp car but it didn't take me long to realize what I want isnt really what I want....if that makes sense.
Im the end I just wanted it tuned to drive everywhere every day (I drive it 50mins to a hr to work each day!) and what ever power it made I would be happy with as long as it was tuned to last.
But I am happier then ever, I don't think I have taken it to 6000rpm yet but it still has no problems lighting up the tyres in second!:D
Plus a lot of the guys at work are amazed it makes over 400rwhp and can still be driven in traffic.....old school guys thats for sure.. hehehe.

Sorry I didn't get a torque grath either.:(

Congrats on the setup mate, glad it all came together.

Must feel great knowing you had a lot to do with it too (installing it yourself, M6 conversion etc..). :D

Cheers,

Yeah! I agree... But 11 PSI is a lot of boost for that kinda HP? 11 on a stock bottom end is hardly a daily driver, that is unless you live near Chernobyl. Each to their own I guess!

We only run 11 PS1 on the 346ci race car with 3,000lb's of race weight and it does 8.9's.... Same blower.... Same boost.... Same static comp ratio, What is the problem?

I think that was at a lot less revs than the race car, hence a call was made to Chris to ask what pulley he was running and what boost he was expecting to run the car at. It definately wasnt what Chris was after hence the pulley was changed.

Whats the problem? I dont think there is one, I think Chris is very happy with it.

Race car Space car..... Work with us here Razzle Dazzle.....

The race car stops at 6300 rpm.... less than a stock Corvette Limit...

Now what? Should we rev it?

400+ rwhp, how good is that. And to be daily driven too.Sam definetly knows his sh*t.Now you have dealt with sam you wont be dissapointed.

Thats an awsome result there Pete with the purpose built race car but to compare it to chris's stock everyday driver car is drawing a long bow. I thought Craig said his car weighed in at around 2500lb but I guess I was wrong. Throw a few revs at it and I am sure you will see the times tumble. Big Shaun said he is reving his 408 to 7300 across the line so I am sure with your knowledge and skill, your engine would handle more than 6300.

You know a lot more than I. I am just a simple man. I would have thought boost is basically a measure of restriction. There are many contributing factors to a boost number. Capa explained it to me in the early days of my powerdyne blower as things such as Impeller size, Pulley size, cam selection etc and the volume of air that can be pushed are all contributing factors to what power it will make. So really using CAPA's reasoning I would say the only real way to compare two blown systems would be to run them on the same engine with the same plumbing and intercooler.

I guess the bottom line is that chris is happy with his real stock engine and CAPA blower system and Sams work tuning, delivering his 441rwhp which is what counts.

Pete, keep in mind this was the first and only run over 3200rpm with that pulley fitted because of the shitty valve springs.
Isent Craigs motor fitted with a small cam, has some head work and forged pistons?
Also a set of 915s????
What exhaust does crags ute have fitted? mine is just a set of Try-Y's with twin 2 1/2".
I thought that was a good result from the rattlely old LS1..

Anyway it's running the bigger pulley now which is giving the blower around 8.5psi and traction contral is fighting a loosing battle.:D

I'm happy!
