Paul Morris, arrogance of a 5 time champion without actually being one.

Paul Morris,

Thinks his cars a dodgem car, and the sheer arrogance of him. Kelly's I can stand. Todd's not doing to bad at the moment and his beting the boss and keeping the red camp up there.

I laugh every time I hear someone say xxx can't drive...... V8 Supercar, an F1 etc etc......

How easy do people think it is to reach the pinnalce of ANY sport???

These cars cost between 1 - 1.5 MILLION dollars a year to campaign - EACH.

I doubt that people who "can't drive" would be allowed to pilot these vehicles by sponsors etc.......let alone the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport!!!!

Like most people good at what they do alot of drivers are arrogant...the worlds best oftern are (Senna, Schumaker etc).....in our local comp the driver the two drivers I think have the best public outlook are Jason Bargwanna and Craig Lowndes, pity they drive the wrong type of car.

To be on post topic I dont dislike any of them.....bit hard to dislike someone you never met!

Thanks HRT Stroker. I agree. Who can possibly stand up and say that ANY of the V8S/C drivers can't drive..? Especially when a TV couch jockey is the one making the claim and they have never even sat in one, let alone driven one. There is possibly no other category in the world that can claim 20 cars with practise times within 1 second of pole. I know someone will be quick to shoot me down with a "frinstance", but my generalisation is pretty close to the mark. At least the thread question was "Who do you dislike"... mutter, mutter, mutter..

Mr Seldo, this isnt a couch jockey thread, this is a who do you dislike thread,

whether it be there driving ability compared to other drivers, or there personality etc or the way they act for the crowd and media.

Ambrose is a prime example, but he can drive but not many people like him cause of his attitude etc.

Im no couch jockey, I have a steering wheel hooked up and play V8Supercvars all the time, I know im good

Not really anyone in that list I dislike, used to hate Radisch but he seems to be getting alot better and is a pretty funny guy...

All in all i personally dispise Barnyard (Besnard) I have never seen someone run of the track SO SO many times @ each event...

...
 Not bad, not bad... But of course you have touched on a good point. Most of these blokes do KNOW that they are good, otherwise they woudn't have the drive. As a result it does tend to bring out the smart-ar$e in some of them. Ambrose is the worst - pity, because he's a damn good steerer and has the ability to win without having to crash his opponents out of the way...

That's a bit harsh, he is pretty down to earth. If a Ford has to win I hope he is steering it.

Gees there's some bullshit in this thread.....I can't stand such-and-such because he drive for Ford, don't like him because he squeels like a pig when he speaks............ :bash:

Truth of the matter is that without these guys we wouldn't have the V8Superscars, that sport we love so much. I have had the honor of driving one of the HPDC cars at Wakefield Park and I USED to think I could drive until that moment.

At the end of the day, until anyone in this forum can flog a race car at 220kph across the top of the mountain in the wet we should just sit back and admire the skill and talent these guys have.

So Craig Lowndes driving ability is now less than it was before due to the car he is now driving.

I laugh myself silly at these sort of comments. CL is quite probably THE most talented driver we have produced for a little while.. and I couldn't care what car he is is.. hell i would still follow him in a Mitsi or Toyota..

Those of you claiming that you no longer like a driver because he went form Holden to Ford or vise versa obviously have a very limited underdstanding of motor racing. These guys have a relative short career compared to us and are right to follow the best opportunity.

DO we all now dislike Mark Webber because he went from Minardi to Williams??

Thought I would get a bite with the statement I made. I am not doubting his ability now at all and that was not was meant to be implied. After all the guy can only do the best with the tools that he has at his disposal. He is a bloddy good driver and if anyone is to win in the Ford camp then I wish it was him.
Still, and I am not the only one that has made mention of this, he seems to have adopted somewhat of an attitude over recent times. Just a personal observation and opinion, so if my personal opinion makes you laugh yourself silly then be my guest...

I find it interesting that Skaife is second on the poll ??? No one has mentioned him in a post, are people voting for him because of perceived arrogance or what. I think Skaife is a legend, he does a lot for motor sport and even more for the brand that we all love, and if he is arrogant some times ... so what, at least he has the results to back it up. Would be interested to hear peoples reasons for voting for him

LOL I cant believe anyone could not stand Lowndes. The best driver and personality of the whole series IMO. I couldnt care less if drivers change brands. The cars share most of the same components anyway. Nothing to do with our Ford and Holden road cars.

Hardly need to be "brand loyal" when it comes to "V8 Supercars" or the drivers driving them - Almost nothing relates to either the Falcon or Commodore as we know them so one may as well just follow a driver or a team rather than "Ford or Holden" .The days of driver loyalty to a brand has long gone since motor racing has now become a "dollar driven entertainment business" and hardly relates to "motor sport" as it was once known .

Two consecutive sensible posts! If you want a real comparisson between Falcon and Holden products then you need a production based category where the race cars represent the road cars. We had a production car category in Australia until it was stuffed up with the Nations Cup category and 7 liter Commodores........

But I digress. I dislike Skaife immensely and this has nothing to do with him racing for HRT. He has always been quick. But he has also always been an arrogant punce right from the beginning when he raced Nissan Skylines.

the fact that theyre mere shells of the original cars may be true , but hasnt the success of the V8 supercars really been based pretty much on the Ford/Holden rivalry??
Has there really been many instances of true brand loyalty with any driver in the last 30 odd years ?

Ive always quite enjoyed the Brute series, close racing , bit of argy-pargy and lots of sideways action..and a bit of cheeky humour as well between competitors :)

never a truer word spoken...theres no doubt hes a great driver, the same can be said I guess for quite a few of them, with the skill an confidence comes the ego....ever seen the mountainous ego of a 'Top Gun' pilot or a 100m Olympic sprinter?
