How do I remove the rear view mirror on my VX? I've done it before but it now escapes me, and after snapping off a mirror on the Mrs's Lancer lately trying to get that off, thought Id ask!!
Im sure its simple and I'm having a mental blank :)

Well nearly 3 years on I'm going to ask the same question.. How the hell do you remove a rear view mirror on a VT? My Mirror decided it doesn't like the heat up here with the sunroof blind open and hence I now have a blob of Liquid Crystals in the centre of my mirror. A couple of hours in the fridge should fix it, if it doesn't I'm screwed as HSV no longer sells electromicronic mirrors for my model.

Its a piece of piss mate. There is a metal wedge glued to the windscreen. The wedge is slightly wider at the bottom so when you slide the mirror on it grips harder the more you push the mirror down. To get it off you can try just sliding the mirror up on the wedge but it will probably be pretty secure. What you can do is hold a block of wood under the extension arm and with a hammer give it a few light taps to free it up off the wedge.

Mates VE Calais mirror just randomly fell off the other day, so you could wait for a little bit longer and nature take its course..

Thanks guys, easy as.
OLDYELLA65 reason is the liquid shit inside the auto dimming mirrors stuff up. Mines got a massive bubble in it which you cant see through.

when I was replacing my mirror a while ago, cos all the electrochromatic material in the mirror stuffed up, it was just a matter of sliding the mirror up to the roof.
When I put on my replacement mirror in the instructiosn I did notice that they say to do up the securing screw. Just check to see if there isnt one there stopping the mirror sliding off of the wedge.
