Well Sam had my engine on the engine dyno today to see what she's got. Results were 433 hp and 457 foot pound torque ... or around 325 kw and 615 nm (I think  ). I am stoked, Sam said these figures are pretty much spot on with his SS and I was mighty impressed with that. Engine goes back in tomorrow / Thursday and should have the car back by the end of the week ... can't wait to see how she feels on the road.
This is my first time dealing with Sam and I have been delighted. He was very up front with me, no bull sh1t, I explained what I wanted, he told me what would give me the best result and explained everything. I am no expert when it comes to the technical side of things so it was great that he took the time ... he is clearly an extremely busy man.
Will post my views on how she feels on the road when I have had a chance to have a drive

Sam's stage one stroker package. The thing with it ia that power does not increase that much more than with simple mods, as you noticed torque is the big improver. The other difference is that a stroker gives you much more torque at low revs, my car is pretty damn heavy so this will be a huge benefit. I will post up a dyno chart if I can.
This Stage 1 package includes the following:
Eagle 4340 Crankshaft
Eagle H-Beam Connecting Rods
Diamond Forged Pistons 3.905" or 3.910"
Pro Select Ring Set
Clevite 77 Race Bearings (Big ends and Mains)
Rotating Assembly fully Balanced
Engine Blueprinted
Custom Hydaulic Roller Camshaft
Rollmaster Double Row Timing Chain
Reconditioned Oil Pump
Reconditioned Cylinder Heads
Competition Valve Job
GM Valve Seals
Comp Cams Valve springs
Comp Cams Retainers
Engine Dyno tested and Run In
GM Gaskets
PCM Retuned

PCM RetunedThat looks simply awesome-Can't wait to hear what you think of the result, when you give the car some stick on the street. Cost is personal thing, but in what cost range are we talking for this project-drive in-drive out $10-15k?--,but I understand if you'd rather not say. As I've said, make sure you keep us up to date with your driving impressions. Cheers, Pickles.

Nice work ther Nick.
Two years ago Sam put together a head and cam combo for me with Higgins stage I heads and baby 228/224 cam results were 455 BHP and 448 Ft Lb of torque. As you say the torque improvements are the biggest benefit.
Enjoy your new found power.

Pickles, thanks for the reply!
Cost is $12K including GST, drive away no more to pay :D Don't mind saying the cost as the cost of Sam's stroker kits is widely advertised so it isn't really a secret. Plus I don't mind if people think it's a waste of money (my Dad does  ) as I'm the only one that has to pay for it.
Will post up my opinions of on road feel for sure, plus taking it down the strip early in September so can get some numbers to go with it. May have to wait a bit though as I am getting the VZ Monaro bonnet fitted next week
Cheers, Nick

Thanks Spiv ... yours sounds about in line with mine, any idea what yours does the 1/4 in. I know Sam's does 11's, don't think mine will be that quick because it's a few hundred kilos heavier. Should do ok though I think.

Nicks , sounds like a good package. I only wonder now, what sort of warranty & backup do you now have on engine & driveline etc. Not a dig at anyone. Just years ago when getting anything performance done on engine or car usually came with a ufuf warranty.Do people stand behind their work better now?????????

12K is a great price for such a quality engine. Is the cam sized for stock like manors or a bit of attitude.
When I say stock like manors, I mean no compromize stock like manors.
Unreal mate, sounds like your gonna be wrapped. Does this mean another driving miss daisy mission along Putty Road???

XLNT result Nick. Sounds like the coupe will be somewhat of a weapon.
Good job, but the real test will be when you're sitting in the pilot's chair again and the right Julius Marlow brushes the right pedal.
Somehow this image springs to mind:

Coupe4 style. ;)
Just make sure you keep that thing away from me on Sept 4th. I think I'm gunna look slow enough as it is.

Hey Nick,
My new engine is almost complete it is a tuff 346 fully forged etc all done by Phonsy with some help from Nathan Higgins, when its all complete I will ask Phonsy to help out with the 1/4 mile stuff as he is da man. :D

Fairly well stock like manors, very smooth. Sam said I could get another 30 hp but it wouldn't be as smooth, I don't think I need the extra 30 hp and would rather "stock like". Of course I have only seen it "on the bench" so will be interesting to see how it feels in the car!

Sam stands by his work, he said if anything goes wrong with what he has done he will fix it. Some dealerships will still fix other parts under warranty and some won't, just have to go to the right place :D

Oh yes, I think so ... of course last time we were so well behaved, maybe next time we could be a little naughty once or twice and maybe go a tiny bit faster than we should ;)
Skid pan should be fun too, may even be able to break traction now

Julius Marlow ??? Is that what guys that drive Coupe 4's should wearing  R M Williams mate, nothing better
Of course Sept. 4 will be just like the Putty Road, everyone taking it easy and having a nice leasurely cruise down the 1/4 ... :driving: :burnout: :nutkick:
You do realise of course that it will be my first time ... so be gentle  Can't wait.

Nice goin Nicks, sounds like a killer combo. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on how much improvement you find down low given the abundance of torque. 12 grand well spent in my opinion!!!!
Enjoy, I'll keep a look out for you on the road!!!!
cheers
: Hi mate , Great to see you went with a Sam stroker, thats the great thing about this forum , you could waist a lot of money at different "performance shops" and still not find your way to Sams. Sam is a top bloke , he has always done his upmost to make sure that ive been happy, as im sure he does with all his customers.
Nick , got to say i like your style . Buy the second best holden ever made :stick: go and get it stroked slap a new bonnet on it, then think about drag raceing it. Outstanding behavour ( for an accountant) .
Ive been in Sams SS recently and was very impressed by its manours , you here this all the time but it truely drives like a stocker , the sort of car you could safely let the missus drive . When the door was open apsolutely no movement.Yet punch the go button and great smooth very fast accleration.A true 11 second daily driver. Something often claimed but l dought is truely the case.
He took me for a drive in another car he had there that day, a 409 with 232 cam.A totally different ball game . I shit myself. A total beast , the most impressive acceleration l had ever experienced. Just what l want and hopefully will get one day.
Now this is where it gets interesting, he brought up on his monitor three dyno graphs his baby stroker , this beast 409 id just been in and mine .Funny thing is mine had the highest peak power ....just, but there is a world of difference between mine and these 2 strokers. That day i was dramatically shown that peak power means SH!T . I wished Sam had never taken me for a drive that day , cant stop thinking about that 409 . Time for me to hit the casino again me thinks.
Anyway , im shaw you must be haveing many sleepless nights awaiting your newest child .....good luck , enjoy.......you bastard ;)

Greetings from Hong Kong boys.
Nick. Had a look at your car the other day before I left. Very nice. I have some footage of a silver coupe4 on a circuit from the other day and I must say what an impressive car on the track. They are just so sure footed. You will have a smile from ear to ear when you get it back.
Keen. What can I say. Spelling spelling spelling. That car of Sams has had a few TEST pilots giving it a thrashing lately.

Thanks Josh, your right ... I can't wait to get her back.
Sam showed my the dyno graphs on his monitor also, I couldn't believe the difference in torque all the way along the chart. I have been in cars with 300+ fwkw (non strokers) and they felt slow compared to Sam's. I didn't go in the 409 but the 383 scared the shit out of me so I don't think I would be quite ready for that ... yet :D
I always intended to do something to the Coupe but I also never thought it was really in need of any more speed, just thought it would be fun. But after the run up the Putty Road seeing how easily you past me, of course I must have only been doing about 50 - 60 because you certainly wouldn't have been doing more than 100 ;) I really wanted something that flew. Then Sam showed me the dyno graphs and Tom took me round the block a few times ... made up my mind in less than 12 hours :D
Look forward to catching up again whenever that may be and next time we will have to swap cars for a bit like we intended to last time

It must make sales pretty easy for Sam, just throw Tom the keys and say "take 'em for a spin" ... 10 minutes later Sam has another customer
