Does anyone have Genie headers on their Ls1? Local exhaust shops (Gold Coast) sell either of these but Genie seem to be much cheaper. I realise pacemaker have prob 90 percent of the market. SO anybody with genies making power???

Mate do a search, topic has been bought up a few times before..

Anyways, go for the paccies try-y's I haven't had any problems with them yet. Their pipe over cone design ensures the best flow...

The Advance headers on the table show some of the best results particularly for tri-y's. Sams charts show the same info also. Why is it that the Advance headers dont have the following that pacemakers do, given Advance have superior test & performance data to support them?

It appears that the Genie tri y's are pretty good when tuned. And they are cheaper!
I have been talking to my local Tuner and may go with Genies some 2.5" cats and bolt on twin 2.5 system.
Not many people on the gold coast have done much with LS1's. Good to see a new shop into LS1's.

I have Genie Tri Ys with redback bolt on cat back exhaust and an edit and got 223rwkw. Edit done via PT of course, but it is important to get a tune done after you fit the extractors because my car was running at 179rwkw before the tune which is less than the factory setup. Apparently the computer modified itself to "deal" with the change in headers.

Thanks Fordy,
Do you have a mafless tune? And some sort of CAI? Is your car auto or 6sp? Thanks for the info.... much appreciated

And there are those who say unless you're going for that last kw or two headers arent particularly worth it.....
Thats worth a search on the forum too before spending the $$$$...

I made 217rwkw wth Genie TRI Y's and twin 2,1/2 system. without tune :D

I have tri-Y genies (coupled to hi-flow cats and I think a redback exhaust).......so far so good, made 234 rwkw with a PT mafless tune, although with my new cams installed I expect a lot better tomorrow as it heads back to PT for them to work their magic once more:D

Hi Bloke,
As said previously there are quite a few header and extractor threads on here. The tri-y headers i believe there is not a great deal of performance between them. If you go to Sams performance web sit they did a comparison of a heap of different headers and there was not much in it. It comes down to personal choice, price and things like that. The majority of ppl who have tri-y headers have pacies and that must say something. At the end its your choice and there is not much between the brands.

Ive also Heard good things about HM101's , like said Pacemakers are very popular and for a Good reason ! , but like my self and Leatherman you can make Good Power with Genies :D
I went with HPC coated shorty Genie 4-1's. Coupled with opened up stock cats and a twin custom Sureflow exhaust. Only other mods = MCAI two hole and a MAF pipe upgrade = 234 rwkw after tune.
Car is a VYII A4 Berlina. Shorties meant no need to move and/or replace cats hence no loss of clearance or extra $$$. Also no need to move O2 sensors.
Result was outstanding and tuner nominated it as "the best exhaust setup he'd seen" on an LS1.
Hope this helps ;) :D

I agree with ecka. My tuner is recomending 4-1's over tri Y's when tuning the ecu. He said that they can get better results with 4-1's apperantly more consistant getting timing and AFR's with 4-1's. Loose a little low down torque over Tri Y's but over 3000rpm 4-1's rule. My VZ ute M6 was 198rwkw stock then 230rwkw with cat back and maf tune. Was told with 4-1 difillipo headers and cats with a retune, 255rwkw no probs.

Last time I looked the humble bargain basement
tri-y's ruled the high reving cam only class....

Pacemaker put alot into the development of their product. R and D goes into what size for what car for what type of intended use.
THey stand by their product and are very quick to lend a hand on the odd occasion any issues arise.
Like anything in life, quality cost money!!
The reason they have such market share is cause they work!

i run genie 4 into 1's

Alot of people recommend to run Tri-Y's if your planning on doing simple mods..
Apparently 4-1's headers are more suited if your going to put a supercharger on your engine or something like that... Tri-Y's are decent mid range but 4-1's are good at the top end?
Could anybody please elaborate on this and give me a little more information.. im stumped on what to choose.. Genie Tri-Y's or 4-in-1's.. I'm planning on doing simple mods such as cold air induction, maybe a tune in the future n yeh no plans for forced induction yet :p
Thanks
Regards, Rob..

Mate (Big V),
Your Stock Figure (198rwkw) sounds about correct, 230rwkw Cat Back and Maf Tune Still Sounds About correct, But I can't see it Jumping to 255rwkw, with DF Headers and Cats + Retune. Your talking 25rwkw gain (approx. 50fwkw), figure seems rather high.
I drive a VZ SS Too, and I've decided to go for the Stock Cast Iron Headers + Mafless Tune (Apparantly Very good for bottom end Pull and Good All round). P.s Haven't done it yet, in a couple of weeks.
Anyone, Please Correct me if Im Wrong. :teach:

No problem, Is a mafless tune and 2nd hole in standard CAI. It is an auto. It has standard cats unopened. It isnt the best result around in terms or rwkw but the driveability of the car has changed for the better.

MRVZSS, 255rwkw was quoted to me by the workshop/tuner that i use. I have no reason to dispute there claims, unless I get the extra mods done and falls short of the mark.
The DF headers shown to me were a design that has a slight narrowing section just after the 4-1 merge.
Has anyone had any experience with these type of DF headers ?.

a full exhaust system MIGHT get you 20rwkw, more like 15rwkw. this is vz ss as a base, a vt ss will benefit a lot more. then you have different dynos, DD will probably give you 20-30rwkw reading, dynolog a bit less. what a good exhaust will do is allow a tune/cam/etc to be more effective becuase it lessens restrictions across the entire rev range. so if all youre doing is diff gears and and edit and want better torque down low, go tri-y's, otherwise (short) 4-1's are probably the go. short 4-1 are DEFINITELY the go if you plan on throwing superlow or equivalents into your ute, pre vyII cat positions + tri-y's will have your min height at about 80-85mm, illegal. short headers and vyii on cat position will avoid this drama.
i plan to swap to the short 4-1's, as i have this problem atm. i suppose wacking on some 19 or 20 inch rims would solve the problem, but then youre probably increasing rolling diameter by more than the 10% or whatever limit it is.
edit: talking purely extractors, there wa s apost here by sid447 or similar that showed exactly the HP difference between all extractors. iirc it was a matter of 6-7RWHP between every single extractor. it really is much of a muchness, in terms of peak. the individual torque and power curves would have been interesting to overlay and determine low/mid power delivery. pity.

What would be the expected real world rwkw?.
I went from 222 with a tune, standard HSV headers, and a Noyzworks 2.5" cat-back incl opened cats, to 229 with pacie tri-ys and a new 2.5" Sureflo sytem. And I was happy with that extra 7rwkw because it's all I expected. If I'd been expecting another 25rwkw I'd probably have been shattered, but I suppose some think that a liberal smear of B/S will help slide the dollars out of your wallet painlessly....

i think alot of it is everyone own personal opinion on what you like 4 into 1's or try whys, depending on manual to auto, diff gears, stally and what rpm you want to set the car up at drag, race, or just street only, nitrous and forced induction applications.
255rwkw isnt a bs figure, mine started out at 167rwkw stock, after exhaust and another tuner tuned the car got 226rwkw, so i checked the two dynos and it was within 1 rwkw, both dyno dynamics dynos, and both strapped down the same, chocked the arse end, tyre pressure the same even down to the fuel type. after scrapping the tune on the dyno and doing 58 shootout runs ive achieved 256.2rwkw, and a different car to drive.
And the car has also been on another different brand dyno and pulled 255.8rwkw, its all in the tune.

been on a dynolog vyssls1?
edit: woah. 167 to 256 on an exhaust and a tune? 89rwkw from just those two mods seems ridiculous imho :)

Your not alone alex. Not bad to be putting down
only marginally less power than one of ST's lower
end FI cars without the FI.

You are better of asking these questions to guys on this forum rather :) , than the shop. I'm not saying what you have been quoted is wrong, but when you visit an Exhaust shop, they'll try to sell you an exhaust system, headers Etc. so obviously they will claim rather big figures in order for you to buy, same with a Diff Place, Tuning Place Etc.
A Few Months Back, I was quoted "260rwkw Easy" (From 203rwkw) with just a full Exhaust system and Tune Via Interceptor PCM. The funny thing is that the guy thought i actually believed him, but he was just doing his job, trying to sell. The same guy was telling me that headers are more benificial than 3.90 Diff Gears on a VZ SS A4.
Like I said at the start of this post, "Better off asking guy's from this forum" that way results have been proven before hand! :D
Take her to the track, with this sought of figure you should be cracking Low 12's Day and Night :burnout: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
Hope This helps.
