I recently had a new set of diff gears fitted to my car by Hart Transmissions at Brendale (recommended by PowerTorque), and whilst I was wrapt with the performance result, I wasn't happy that there was now a period-whine at about 80kph. I readied myself for the inevitable fight and string of B/S excuses, rang Clint at Harts and explained the problem....he was most apologetic - said they'd had a few sets of gears with problems lately and said to bring it back in 2 days so he'd have time to get another ready for me. I rolled in at 7.30 as booked, was given a cup of coffee and a loan car, and told to come back in an hour and a half...So far...pretty good....So an hour and a half later I drove off, job's right.....or is it?...Nuh uh...Another whine, this time at 60 kph. So, I phoned again after giving it a couple of days to bed-in and explained the issue....Again, no probs.... Diff no 3 goes in, coffee, loaner again, no dramas. This time they even had the rep from the CW&P supplier there to check and make some suggestions.... And...you would not believe it....this one was worse still..!!! So, this morning...diff number 4 ....aaanddd... You beauty!
But the point of the post originally was that Harts gave me just fantastic service with no B/S, no arguments or trying to back-out of the problem, they just copped it on the chin, even though it is a component problem and is not linked to their expertise in any way. He also told me that he had to wear the labour each time as well as the new seals, bearings and oil - the gear suppliers just give him warranty on the gears themselves.
It's a bit unusual these days and I'd be the first to recommend them to anyone.

I too had a similar experience to seldo with Harts transmissions this week.

I had a set of 3.73 gears put in by Harts a few weeks ago (same day seldo get his done actually  ) and over the weekend started making a whining noise while the car was coasting.
A call to Harts on Moday morning explaining the problem had Clint organise me to bring the car in 1st thing Tuesday morning. (He offered to look at it Monday but I couldn't get the car to him) I arrived there a bit before 7am and handed the keys over to clint while one of the workshop guys ran me down to the train station so I could get to work. I mentioned to Clint that I may not be able to get back before 5PM to pick up the car but he said that's not a problem and he would wait for me to show up.

Fortunantly I made it back just before 5 and Clint said they had stripped the diff down and found that the pinion nut had come loose which had let the pinion gear move around causing the noise. They also tightened up the LSD again and replaced seals, oil ect.

As with seldo, Clint was most apologetic of the inconvienence and said that he was happy that I had bought it back as mine was the 2nd car that had came in with the same problem.

As with seldo, I would have no hesitation recommending these guys to anyone.

I too was recommended to go to Harts for my new 3.9 diff gears, after getting my arse whupped on saturday night during my first time at Willowbank.

So in she went on Tuesday, and was ready right on time at 1.30pm later that day.

So far no probs with whining (except from the missus when she eventually finds out that I've bought them!!!!) and again can only echo all of the other posts reiterating that Clinton and his guys are top blokes.

I think we should all (in the Brissy area) count ourselves lucky that we have Hart's and PT so close to each other.

Cheers,

Leatherman :D
