This car is awesome to drive!!
Well done Mick and Frank and all the boys down there. I have had this car for a while and finally decided to get APS Service Centre to build the engine, with the end result being that it's still smooth to drive because my wife still needs to drive it with the kids in the back.
Holy Shit!! After a week of driving Mick gave it its final tune and some minor mods to the internals of the auto. I pick the car up last night and it's not hard to smoke the tyres :burnout: first, second and even third. Not bad for a Grange.
Just before the LS1 nationals last year APS fitted a baby cam and tuned it Mafless. It ran a 12.80 on slicks. That gave me the bug to want to do more so Mick came up with this package and I finally saved the bucks to finish the job.
I'm keen to get it to the track and see what it can do. Mick doesn't want me to lighten the car for it's first run so we can have the best comparison to the last run.
The whole package is pretty close to perfect and the cam selection is awesome, still idleing at 800rpm, but now you can certainly notice it has a cam.
The auto's in early Gen 3's that I have driven have always been terrible, but after Mick's mods and programming it shifts perfect. It has only got a small stall, but again, I can't believe the change to the car.
Mick and Frank, hurry up and finish fitting that Blower to Frank's ute so we can get to the track
Thanx again guys, f#*king unreal job :D

Jeezus
Thats one of the tougher combo's I've heard of in a Stato.
Should be good for easy 11's.
I predict a blown auto the first time you drive it in anger with decent tyres on it though
The time to beat at the moment NA is 12.576 - although that was with "street" tyres", dont know many people running slicks on stato's yet  - but that should be a gimme with 308RWKW.
Well done

Mick WELL DONE mate that will be a farken ripper im so so jealous of that set up, I also am going with greg and saying that the auto wont last very long with that powert at all if driven hard.
just out of curiousity why did you go such a small stall, was tat to keep it nice on the street cause i could imagine with a 4k stall that will go even quicker.
Cheers and good luck

Time to answer some questions,
First of all thanks to Mick, Frank, and APS Frankston for all their hard work in importing parts and creating such an engine package.
As i said earlier the Grange is used as a daily driver either for myself or my wife so thats why some things arn't quite set for drag racing. At the cars current stage it idles perfect for dropping off kids(with a little rumble) and returning an average of around 14l per 100ks around town and in the 10s on a trip if driven sensible.
Mick has worked very hard in making sure the idle quality and fuel consumption is perfect this is why you would consider the stall to be a little small however come for a ride and you may change your mind when it fries the tires in 1-2 and 3 easily.
The power of this car is unbelievable and yes i have a spare 300kw auto just in case.
As soon as I can I will buy some street radials and put it back on the track, it may show others how good APS Frankston really is......
thanks Jason

I thought I would wet your apetite on how the grange is going.
This is one fun car to drive however as predicted I seem to be having a little problem keeping the auto in the car as holdens patched up auto blows up again (number 3)
APS Frankston have just finished a new stall and auto package to fix the problem as the engine has far to much power for them stock crap auto's.

Very nice work. Hopefully the trans holds up and you get it to the track. You might have some competition on the fastest Cow transporter though... My GenT equipped caprice is due to hit the track as soon as its dry enough (thats a strange thing to say in a drought i know...) My PB with cam only was 12.596 in 22c heat.

Shouldn't laugh but you have to some times.
Give Dave a ring on 0424 614 710 and ask for one of his "burger with the lots"
Dont stuff around with a half arsed box - go the full hog.
Youll be up for around $2-3K ish, but it's worth it.
I know what it's like to spit out boxes almost weekly.
And VooDoo - you do realise that FI is cheating.:p

Its all in laughter because HOLDEN wasn't getting even a chance at fixing it this time as we all now how good their auto warranties are!!!
To amuse you all a little further when the auto let go just to be nice to me it retained 1st and 2nd gears so I drove it home for about 10ks with 411's and revs between 5000-7000 of and on the load pedal.
Ever heard of a statesman that sounds like a GRP A touring car and a fuel av of about 40l/100ks:lol:
Well done mick/frank. Another fantastic job coming out of the APS stable. cheers Chev

Well I know you are happy with the engine Jay, and so are we because we put a lot of effort into your package, and now out of our control, you have to upgade your auto.
Voodoo, you're referring to Dave from RVO and yes he is already doing our autos, and Jays auto has a few extra tricks that he has implemented. Its also getting a Dominator stall converter. We cant wait to set this car up for the track in full street trim and see what numbers we can get out of it.
Anyone know what the Statesman n/a record currently is at the moment??
Cheers Mick

Stato unopened NA record is held by iwantahsv (Anthony) at 12.86 @ 110 if i remember correctly. Its in the timeslip db.
Cam only is 12.579 by Mrs Statie with me close behind with a 12.596.
Those times are pretty close but as the timeslip DB isnt working i cant check.
Oh, and a Grange in WA has done an 11.7 on a huge NOS shot. I havent run my Turbo caprice yet so my old cam only time is it for now.
