Well it was a busy weekend for Sam, Tom and the boys at last weekends Sydney AME show. As said in a few other threads there were some great stands there with Harrop having some great cars on display including the Blown green Monaro, The Powertorque Chev 78 and the Awsome looking 427 Harrop car as well. Capa had a great stand with Craigs beast VY ute, a Blown LJ and a stout little blown LH Torana. Phonsey was there with the Ripshifts and Textralia Clutches and a DVD playing of Deejays 11.5 run
The Sams stand had my GF's GTO, the NA Clubby, Als Monaro justry and his new Maloo ute, Noels Stroker Ute, and Robs Blue VK Brock. We decided to give the my cars a run on the Dyno as well as Als and Noels and Criso's 10 sec N/A VU ute.
First up was the Clubby which realed off a 496.3rwhp on 98 but hit the limiter still climbing. We ran it up the next day after adding a bit of Martini and bumping the limiter up. 496.4rwhp we logged the run hoping to be able to make a few adjustments after the run knowing that the Martini would richen the afr's up but it wasnt to be as time didnt allow us to get back on the dyno. It would have been good to rip off a 500+rwhp but it wasnt to be and there is no excuses why we didnt.
It was enough to win the NA GenIII class just by about 4 rwhp
Als 6ltr cam only Maloo ute realed off a 423rwhp. Awsome effort considering this is a dead standard Maloo ute with a cam, tune and exhuast and took out the cracked class LS1/LS2 just ahead of Noels green VY at 420rwhp
First up sunday was the GTO 383 T trim. Sam jumped in the car and ran the car up on a soft run to make sure everything was ok as it hasnt had any sort of tune done to it since it lifted a head 2 months ago. I replaced the heads with another set I had so we just wanted to be sure all was ok. It ran off a 590rwhp first run I knew it had at least 620rwhp in it and Sam said want do you want to do. Tony (CAPA) was next to me egging me on so Keep going was the reply. After a quick tinker they then realed off some 646rwhp and a 653rwhp. Remember this is how the car is driven everyday air filter etc all in place. We were then able to get back on the dyno due to someone withdrawing and they asked us to bring the GTO back out. Tony and Sam suggested to take the intake tube and filter off and give it a whirl. I wanted to run the clubby, Tony wanted the GTO and the AME said GTO so on went the GTO. They ran it up and a whopping 675rwhp backed up with a 673rwhp. Not bad for a T-Trim daily driver (Note we had some Martini in it). We could of put a smaller pulley on if we had one but nobody did, thats life. I would have liked to have had a go at Roars daily driver record but it wasnt to be. The blower just wouldnt pump any more air with that pulley. Another point to note is that it was running an 8pk belt drive and had no issues. I thought it may have slipped but all was fine.
Once again Sams got the win for highest HP Blown GENIII. Well done to CAPA for such a simple system that worked faultlessly all weekend.
So out of the four cars entered in the dyno comp 3 won and the other came second to a Sams car so not a bad effort from the boys at Sams. Well done.
Well done to IH8WRX for keeping our cars looking pristine all weekend. Good to see Dick, Zac, Sonny and Pope. Spiro was there with the APS twin turbo Monaro looking magic. Thats the first time I have seen the APS kit and I must say it's nice and is one stealth looking unit that ran well all weekend. Greg from Sureflow was there and a big thanks to him for my 3.5inch system that sounded sweet on the Dyno.
It would have been good to see a few different LS1 combinations on the dyno. Thats the one thing about a show. You cant hide. Everything is out there on display for everyone to see the results in an independent test arena on an independent dyno. I will post some photos once I can get them hosted.
Hopefuly we will take a car or two to The Melbourne AME. Well done Graham, Mark and the AME Family.
