Had this fault a few times, it's usually logged as a high oil pressure fault.

In basic terms the sender has a short in it creating less resistance making the computer think the oil pressure is too high.

You should be ok, along as you don't hear any rattles (apart from the normal piston slap, etc.. ) or have the oil light come on.

Yeah, it actually happened to me bout a month ago. My mate had the analyzing software at his place, so we plugged in and found the code, I think it was something like p0523...cant really remember now. Basically it is a faulty oil switch, there really is nothing wrong with the car.

If you do search on the site you will find some posts containing more detail. Try here:

Its nothing too dangerous..but best be safe than sorry!

My word isnt gospel, it could be something else, there are guys who know a lot more about the LS1 than I do, so maybe listen to them more than me :)

Cheers,

Sparky

I had the same thing happen the other day. Got the dealer to check with his Tech 2 and found high voltage reading form the oil pressure sensor.
He said about $200 to supply and fit

This is from GenIII Engine management training manual:

A failure in the Oil Pressure Sensor or Circuit will set one of the following DTCs:
DTC P0522 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor Low Voltage
Conditions for running DTC P0522
• The engine is running.
Conditions for setting DTC P0522
• The Engine Oil Pressure Sensor voltage is less than 0.48 volts.
Action taken when DTC P0522 Sets
• The PCM illuminates the Check Powertrain Lamp when the diagnostic runs and fails.
• The PCM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The PCM stores this information
in the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.
Conditions for clearing the Check Powertrain Lamp and DTC P0522
• A last test failed (Current DTC) will clear when the diagnostic runs and does not fail.

DTC P0523 Engine Oil Pressure Sensor High Voltage
Conditions for setting DTC P0523
• The engine is running.
Conditions for running DTC P0523
• The engine Oil Pressure Sensor voltage is greater than 4.5 volts.
Action taken when DTC P0523 Sets
• The PCM illuminates the Check Powertrain Lamp when the diagnostic runs and fails.
• The PCM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. The PCM stores this information
in the Freeze Frame/Failure Records.
Conditions for clearing the Check Powertrain Lamp and DTC P0523
• A last test failed (Current DTC) will not clear when the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
