I've been doing some looking around recently at the rocker cover area of the LS1/LS2. I've come up with a way to relocate the coil packs out of the road properly but still easy to get to, to change etc. I've been hunting around to see what's available in the way of after market rocker covers, as lets face it the Holden design coil pack and rocker cover are is a mess and anything would have to be an improvement on this area.

I aksed the question in the Harrop premium sponsor section and Ken gave some very good replies.

I've come across these tho in the U.S.A. http://www.katechengines.com/street_performance/engine_parts_detail.php?id=14#

I'm not the most technically advanced guy with the right terminology for engine parts, however I know on the left rear of our rocker covers we have what appears some sort of "breather" hose? Is this a must to leave in place or can it be deleted some how? If so any suggestions? Reason being is I have noticed the above ones (picture) don't have this "breather" hole.

Also as most of you know I like to make things as cost effective for people as possible. To me it's fruitless to make something worth a sqillion dollars if only one or two people can afford it. So my next question comes to the standard OEM rocker covers. Now if you remove the coil packs and brackets you have a few holes left in the rocker covers both sides where the coil pack brackets screw into to. I know the rocker covers are a cast alloy, but my question here is, is it possible or would it be possible to fill these holes in sucessfully? If so what would be best to use or even any recommendations on who would be best to speak to over this? Personally I don't think the standard rocker covers are to bad, and the do polish up very nicely. I originally had mine polished until I painted them but they did look quite good tho polished.

Does anyone else have an links or pictures of after market rocker covers either? If so please post them up. I know V8 Ute (Lindsay) does as too Gary (VXSS)

I'm just looking around at something that is cost effective, looks good and works. A lot of people told me I could do what I did with my engine so give up, but I still did it anyway. People have told me the same thing with the coil pack relocation and I've just about done that so next project is the rocker covers.

thanks
Rick :)

I might be wrong, but I believe that you're talking about the PCV system. On later cars (VYII onwards I think) the PCV system was relocated to the valley cover. More details here:
