It is highly recommended to stick with the known tuners...*Forum Sponsors*..they have the numbers on the board and are highly experinced with the LS1 .....as a couple of people from your neighbouring town of Townsville have discovered at much expense for pp performance increase…just my view

hey mate.
i live in cairns been here for few yrs now. ive got leigh to do a fair few things for my car rip shift installed diff clutch service and so forth. he is good with all that sort of stuff. he has built a fair few modded ls1's up here now and is currently in the process of learning ls1 edit so he will be able to tune it for u soon enough.
still being in cairns and a long way from anywhere it pays to do some research on the net about what mods and so forth u want for ur car as the experience with regards to the ls1's in the major cities is well proven and tried.
regards Brett

Not just yet...will be heading to PT next Monday. Still doing night shifts at the moment so at least the thought of the VZSS is keeping me going. :) One of the reasons I was happy to purchase the VZ in Brisbane, besides a better price, was the fact that I could access some expertise down there in the form of a good edit and some basic bolt-ons. Apparently the software does cost a pretty penny and the local tuners can't justify the expense.
I was seriously considering driving the VY down in some spare time just for a tune but will probably sell it soon as running two 346cu V8s will takes its toll on the hip pocket.
I notice the local dealer keeps putting their impulse blue SS out the front with a big sign on it? Well, they could've sold it to me for the right price...

I was also ripped off severely up in Cairns for an exhaust on the VY, after finding out I'll be getting a better system down south for FAR less I gave myself an uppercut. PM me if you want to know which exhaust shop to avoid up here.

There's a member on here (HSVGTS) who's had a intercooled twin turbo setup done on his C4B GTS with Leigh. Give him a PM.
Don't believe that the only way you can get a decent tune or so on is with a forum sponsor. For some people, it just isn't possible, and SVS is a pretty reputable performance place in Cairns. They hve plenty experience in many areas of performance engines, including big block Chev V8's used in the cairns-green island-cairns waterski race.
Give HSVGTS a pm and ask him what his experience with SVS was like before you instantly believe that you MUST go to brisbane for a tune that won't blow your engine up.

Kirium, I'm sure you're right. The problem was that SVS don't offer LS1 edit and after researching the benefits of that compared with an interceptor ECU (like Unichip) I think it's worth it. Although if LS1 Edit is to be made locally then that is brilliant news.

My bad. I remember hearing somewhere a while back that SVS had began playing with one of the flavours of Edit. I knew they did unichips, but thought they did edit too now.
Perhaps a mail order tune is the best bet then...

Go talk to Leigh at SVS, he’s as good as the best and yes he acquired a quality LS1 type edit.
After your talk with him research the results. He’s done quite a few serious LS1’s now, hence the outlay of the edit program. A good step forward for LS1 owners in Cairns……..regards

That is good news (the Edit being available up here soon) :burnout:

Well there you go.
Do your research with SVS. If you're happy with his service, you've saved a big big trip down to Brisvegas. If you're not, you can look forward to a nice trip down to brisvegas... :D
Just don't believe that the only option for a good tune is to see a sponsor, especially if your're 2000kms away. for some, it's not really an option.

Yep, but for me, I'll already be in Brisbane to pick up the VZSS from Zupps anyway so only driving back  Maybe get the VY done up here

After more than 2500Km I'm finally back in Cairns. Took my time with three overnight stops on the way. The VZ SS is great and now even better after having been breathed on by the boys at PowerTorque. Pics are in the multimedia section.
- full exhaust: Tri Y Pacemakers and twin catback with opened cats
- 3.46 diff ratio. Got a good price as PT had a near new set. No noise at all. Was seriously considering 3.7, particularly after talking to Markone2, but the price was too good. 3.46 was perfect for the long trip back at 100-115km/h but I could see 3.7 being better around town to punish the ricers
- Maff tune with standard VZ airbox = 192rwKw to 226rwKw. Mark thinks probably more to come as the engine was happy with quite alot of advance (BP Ultimate).
Overall I'm bloody happy...now for the VY.... ;)
