Hey all
well Ive had it with this unit!
I was told that a VY stereo unit is compatible with a VZ, just pull out the original, shove in the new one and put in the right PIN.
Then I was told the PIN needs to be updated to the BCM so the car recognises it by Tech 2.
I took the car into Holden who gave all these options a shot and still couldnt get it to work, it came down to possibly the VY and VZ isnt compatible because we have the right PIN, they tried the BCM ...
So Ive got for sale a VY 6 Stacker from a Series 2 VY Berlina. I assume it works, it powers up and asks for the PIN. I also have a letter from the previous owner that details it as a legit sale (to me)
Best offer really, its useless to me - expensive paper weight at the moment. Serious offers only please

Hi,
I am interested in the 6 stacker.
Can you please explain to me what you mean by "alloy" colour? Will it match a SV8 dash?
Cheers
Brian

Ok guys,
ive had a few enquries from this forum via PM so rather then do it one by one I'll answer all questions here :)
This is the photo of the radio
http://i5.ebayimg.com/04/i/04/97/de/2d_1_b.JPG
By alloy colour I refer to the colour of the face of it, I dont know about VY's, but I know VZ's also have a black one in the Calais / SS etc because the dash facia is also black.
This is what the ad said when I brought it
UP FOR SALE IS THIS USED GENUINE BLAUPUNKT 6 DISC CD IN DASH AUDIO SYSTEM MODEL NUMBER 92096466 TYPE SYS 3A TO SUIT VY OR VZ COMMODORE.THIS WAS REMOVED FROM MY 2004 VYII BERLINA WHEN IT WAS NEW.I HAVE SINCE TRADED UP TO A NEWER MODEL AND HAVE NO NEED FOR THIS UNIT.THERE IS NO WEAR ON THE FACE OF THIS UNIT AND IT WORKS PERFECT.THE SECURITY PIN NO IS ALSO ATTACHED.THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO CHANGE THAT BORING OLD SINGLE DISC TO A 6 DISC MORE POWERFUL UNIT WITH AN EQUALISER BUILT IN.THESE RETAIL FOR APPROX $1300.00 NEW AND ARE HARD TO FIND.
Will it suit VY? Apparantly so. Holden told me yesterday they have problems trying to install radios from VY's into VZ's and visa versa all the time. Their just not compatible although they look the same! Keep in mind this radio did come from a VY series 2 berlina and I am trying to install it into a VZ Adventra.
A letter of ownership from the original owner will be included, which also includes the PIN and a contact number for him.
To give you guys an idea, I payed $405 for it, I dont know if their worth this much or not.
Websites like this one http://www.nvu.com.au/products_single.php?action=showproduct&cat=2&id=154&page=1§ion=1 sell them for around the $600 mark (the above link shows the black one I'm talking about) and its tough finding them on Ebay.
This should answer everyones questions, if your still interested let me know either here or via PM and we'll talk because I would rather sell it to one of you guys :)

I think ive scared you off!
If your still interested start throwing prices at me. As I said $405 is what I payed and in all honesty I'd like to make as much of that back as possible, because $405 is alot of money to waste because you trust what someone says on a forum, but I'd rather sell it then be stuck with it!

ok guys I got everyones PM's and emails
Theres 5 interested in total and all 5 are reasonably close in offers.
I'll sit down over the weekend and think about it and contact each of you next week with my decision, but so far all 5 are on an equal playing field.
If your not interested anymore please let me know to make it fairer for those that are, but I can guarantee the radio will be gone to someone by the weekend ;)

ok guys
if still interested ive listed it on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4578879223
the reason is because i cant get the pin to work still so ive decided it may be the wrong pin and id hate to sell it to one of you guys only to find its still useless
if your interested place a bid, if not thanks anyways ;)

ok guys ive put it onto ebay
ive said $350 starting price, $400 buy it now. If anyone here wants it for $350 let me know and i'll cancel the auction (if theres no bids)
PIN still wont work so ive given up. I'm thinking possibly wrong PIN but i cant confirm it, holden still stands by "vy isnt compatible with vz" theory.
If you want it let me know, the point I am trying to make is dont blame me if it doesnt work. Quite possibly you'd be able to double check the PIN number yourself, especially if you work at Holden. I'd sell it with the letter from the original owner which tells you the PIN he has had "verified by Holden".
I honestly hope its a matter of not compatible with VZ, but I dont know and after weeks of fiddling with it have finally given up
