Just took the Monaro for a little spin (after today's edit by CHIPMASTER), - had the traction OFF , and POWER on, was doing 80km/h - entering the freeway - was on the ON ramp.
I planted it, and the frikkin rear end stepped out, and i mean stepped out.
Scared myself stupid - lets just say - i wasnt expecting the increased power
Damn i love this car!!

I did warn you on the test drive today , I have been scared a few times by customers on the test drive , the increase in torque everywhere can catch you out pretty easily till you are used to it - wait to you get soem diff gears in , then it becomes fun :D

Hi JC,
Just a pure and simple edit? no exhaust or anything ?
Dan,
I want to edit the CV8z asap but I'm between a rock and a hard place -
I'm waiting for the *ahem* software coming from Holden to fix the frigging temperamental fuel gauge. If I get the Edit, then Holden comes out with the so called new software for the fuel gauge, where does that leave me ? Will they overwrite the edit as part of that process ? I do want the guage fixed !
Cheers,
Muz

Muz, its not a problem as we can put the car back to std for Holden to do there bit if I cant correct it here :D there is no extra charges involved.
Most stuff Holden do is in the dash which has no effect on the pcm or tune.

JC did ya get a dyno readout or know roughly how many kw your pulling out now? Being a munro you would already have something over our lowly ss's :p but would be interested to know.
Cant wait to get one done, need some low down brahma!!

No times out of her as yet - shes not gonna be a dragster - just a pure Monaro with a little 'mumbo' upgrade.
Serious though boys - For the $400 Mail order tune - just cant go wrong!

Traction control, could come in handy. Try a blower and a stage 2 shift kit, then you'll get some hang time every WOT shift and hold on if your turning a corner between shifts
You gotta love using the passenger side window as a windscreen

You should always use the best fuel possible for best economy and power.
In WA thats BP Ultimate 98 octane , every other premium is only 96 octane.

I read back through the thread and i read something about it being a mail order tune? If so, how much more power would be expected from a custom MAF tune?
I have a VX SS which i bought about a month ago and i am itching to get it tuned, is it worth going the full custom tune or just getting the mail order tune loaded up?

Custom tune will get more than a mail order , depends on your budget , location and desire for a huge improvement or the max improvement.

What sort of power difference is there between a custom tune and a mail order tune? For a custom tune how long do you require the vehicle for?

The tune takes between 1/2 day to a full day depending on the type of tune to get a full custom sorted for each car.
Power difference depends on the vehicle , the big gains witht he custom tune arent just in the max power figure , its all the part throttle and transient stuff that takes the time to get right for each indiviual vehicle to make it a complete package.

G'Day fella's.
I am very new to this but got my Sept 04 CV8 a month ago and had its first edit 2 weeks ago. Started at 202 rwkw on the dyno, and we left it at 231rwkw. Took about 1.5 hrs and I was there for the whole shooting match. Cost me $900, a 'mate', says he can get more with exhaust mods first, then a cam. I look forward to it, but as I drive like a Granny (as my kids say) I havent noticed too much diff between 202 - 231, maybe this is at higher rpm's than I get too.
Regardless, good to watch and learn about the bollocks factory settings. An edit for all I say.
P.S. the reason I found this search is because my bloody fuel guage is still ****ed after taking back to Holden.
