I have been thinking its a long time since I replaced the plugs on my car 50,000 + kays several years
Is this something that needs to be done regularly these days?
If I replace them what do I buy and where is the best ($$) place to buy am in Melbourne
I drive a VR V8 Calais on premium fuel with a cam & bumped up compression
Cheers Stu

What plugs do you have in them, more than likely they are just the normal copper ones and you can pick them up for $3 each. But, after 50,000 ks they would be well and truely past there used by date.
With your mods , i would try a heat range of 6. There are so many options in plugs, from $3 copper ones to $20 iridium ones, personal preference really

Stu,
I just replaced my spark plugs with the NGK Iridiums, expensive but worth it in my opinion. Dont have to change them as often either, but they are around $18-$20 per plug.
Not sure about the 5lt, but when asking about the options for my LS1 it was recommended I just use reasonable quality standard plugs, and simply change them every couple of services. Works out much cheaper, and keeps things running reliably.

My own testing at Willowbank would also confirm there is no performance gain with the expensive plugs...

u change plugs when they need them, if there still fine just use them, if the gap is way out, getting brittle or they look 20 years old then get a replacement set.
iridiums? waste of money, the $2.50 NGK plugs do the same job, but it makes other sleep better at night knowing they spent $160 on a set of plugs.
Stu,I always used NGK BPR6EF in the vp every 20,000k
