I was walking past a credit union in Canberra yesterday and if you sign up to one of their home loans, they offer a 50cent discount on fuel for a year. not too bad i guess... better than a kick in the balls...

Need to watch these "specials' They normally rope you in to get your busines with some give away or cheaper rate, but be warned if you try to payout the loan early. Always read the fine print.

I reckon it's genuine (as in an authenticate attempt to make money, not just a joke) - because the fine print is so scary. Basically they can do anything they want, whenever they want, to whomever they want - as long as you give them $500.

Also - which fuel companies would do a special deal with a completely unknown company??? Do a search on the internet for their parent company "BTS Management PTY LTD" - pretty much zilcho, apart from a reference to them designing a website. So if you like giving your money to some schoolkid web designer who has set up a kool scam, go for it!!

Of course you need to read over the fine print... Having said that, I'm not even in the market for a house, It's just interesting to see almost everyone giving away some form of free fuel or discount promotion. Holden, home loan places, supermarkets... The list goes on.

My suggestion wasn't that they weren't a genuine company, more that their intentions are perhaps a little dubious. Setting up a PTY LTD company aint all that hard. Whilst I distrust the internet with a passion, the fact that this company shows up approximately nowhere immediately sets off alarms for me. No major fuel company is going to waste time on a nobody company when they can deal with the likes of Coles Myer or Woolworths for much greater effect.
