View Full Version : Monaro Availability

Just went down to my local dealership to check on Monaro availability.
I was advised that there are still a few CV8Zs around, but that "normal"CV8s were very scarce, & in fact, some colour/transmission combinations were no longer available- my source actually intimated that normal CV8s were more difficult to obtain than the "Z"! I had the opportunity to look at a Turismo CV8Z, which does NOT come with the embossed seats or the special "Z" mats. Apparently only the Phantom & Fusion cars come with these items, which to me, doesn't make sense. The interior of the car I looked at looked identical to that of a normal Monaro. So, I guess if you are thinking about any sort of Monaro at all, you'd better be quick, as my source thought they may all be gone by November. But of course, HSV are still to announce their plans for the coupe, which will be interesting, particularly if you've got $80k+ to spend. Cheers, Pickles.

Will be very interested to see what HSV do, I have read (in Australian Muscle Car) that HSV may do what is basically a LS2 Monaro, being very basic body changes, in essence what we were hoping the CV8Z would be.
Just have to wait and see, anyone know how long till they said they would announce it ?

Just have to wait and see, anyone know how long till they said they would announce it ? I don't think they'll do any sort of Monaro, but I believe they are trying to continue with GTO. What they should do, in my opinion, is a "special", end of coupe/model, if that is to be the case, with an upgraded LS2 engine, as a final farewell to the GTO. It could even be called GTS. I can't think of any reason why they couldn't do that, with say 330-340kw. It would be an instant classic, because who knows when they will be able to do another coupe.
At the last HSVOC (Vic) Meeting (August), HSV's new chief said 6-8 weeks, so on that basis, we should know within a month-but don't count on it!! Cheers, Pickles.

Just wondering how long people are being quoted for delivery of their CV8Z?
I ordered mine through a lease company in Sydney 2 weeks ago and was told it will be 6 weeks for delivery. I got an update today and it is still sitting at late October. So that is still 4 weeks to go...
I've noticed in the other CV8Z thread that some others were being quoted less than weeks for delivery after ordering.
My questions are:
- what are other people being quoted for delivery when they order?
- who actually has got theirs delivered that wasn't showroom stock and how long did it take?
- what's the chance the dealer is getting the car earlier and is leaving it in the showroom for a couple of weeks to drum up interest?
Thanks!

My Story....
Chapter 1:
Ordered CV8Z on 3rd of August....was to arrive in about 3 weeks
Chapter 2:
Date was revised 2 weeks later by dealer for 1st October (grumble)
Chapter 3:
Dealer called today (27th Sep) car is in! Ready for pickup this Friday! (30th Sep)...got them to throw in tinting and 3 year extended Holden warranty into the deal - so that would have added a day to dealer deliver no doubt.
Chapter 4:
Coming soon.....

I ordered mine at the end of August and was told 6 weeks. Revised first time to Oct 5. Revised again 2 weeks ago to 29th of Sept. Car is at the yard now and I'm getting it on Thursday lunchtime.
Mine was not floor stock because the fleet dealer can't have floor stock. He needs an order number from Leaseplan and a photocopy of my license to even order the car.
He also told me that the autos were impossible to get now and also that the Z was moving out the door really quick.

I reckon around the time of the International Motor Show in Sydney in a couple of weeks might be a possibility.

I'm very keen to see what HSV will do for a finale for the coupe. I hope it is badged a GTS with a heap more grunt, limited run of 100 or something. Instant classic for sure.
Although I read in Motor they would put more than 300kW as that's all the current chassis can cope with. Perhaps the real reason for saying that is so they can open up the LS2's potential for the VE? I hope that's the reason, gives us more chance of seeing such a beast of a GTS. :)

Folks CV8 production has ceased and CV8Z production is in place. There is nothing special about the Z in terms of production, it's business as usual.
As for delivery dates, I was quoted a 5 month wait on my Turismo because of a) the color and b) the way they batch build the Monaros every 2-3 months.
My date was later revised to 3 months. Ordered December, initial delivery date was quoted mid June, revised and delivered end of April. I think your CV8Z orders will be processed sooner.
Cheers,
Steve

I ordered mine on 1st September, Phantom (auto) CV8Z. Been told it arrives 1st October. It was then revised to 21st October.
Not happy, but it will be worth the wait. :D
Yeah and the dealers won't budge on price, because they don't have to, very high demand for these special edition monaros.
I am getting sat nav, bluetooth, tint and leather/paint protection, so it has to go to holden by design. All up on road was a shade over 70k inc assessories. :)
