Hi,
Ive been having a look at the hurricane and I think it looks like a great bit of gear. What I'm wondering is what sort of engine would it be most suited to? A high revving head and cam motor, or a torque monster stroker..etc.
I know its been around for a while now, do you have any results of being tested?
I would assume it would be great for throttle response, but can actual horsepower/torque gains be had too?
How much more difficult are these to tune than a single throttle body set up? By someone who know what they are doing obviously...
Thanks for your time, and look forward to your reply.
The Hurricane is best suited to engines that are "starving" for more air with alternative manifolds (LS6 or Fast etc) ... strokers or big cammed/ported units will see the most benefit.
There are a few dyno sheets floating around ... do a search on this forum & you will probably find some. The best option is to chat with some existing owners & installers. Several skilled tuners have achieved some VERY good results.
It would unreasonable of me to release the names of our customers on the internet without their permission, so perhaps you could post the question and monitor the response.

Ken,
I ordered a manifold over 6 weeks ago and every time I call Damien he tells me it will be ready next Friday.4-5 Fridays later still no manifold
and it is all I require to get the car back on the road.I have spent a lot of money with you guys and have stayed loyal to your products having fitted the big brake package, front hub assemblies and diff mount to the car which is currently on the front cover of Street Commodore magazine and fitted with a Starr blower package that I have since removed.Could you please look into the availability of the manifold as unfortunately any further delays will mean I will reluctantly have to sort an alternative manifold.Any help would be most appreciated.

Mark,
Thankyou for your feedback, even if it is not what we like to hear. :(
A complaint is a gift.
As everyone understands, Harrop Engineering prides itself on designing, developing and delivering the best quality products that have been tested to ensure they give you, the customer, the results you would expect from our Harrop Performance product range.
In line with our durability and validation policy, we have not been satisified with some of the initial components which make up our new 55mm throttle plate Hurricane manifold.
Rather than make the customer the guinea pig, I think you would agree that we should get it right before unleashing this new product onto the market place.
I understand the last few weeks have been frustrating for you, but I can assure you we are working as hard as we can to deliver you the best inlet manifold to suit the LS series engines, and best of all it is 100% manufactured in Australia.
In the interim, as we are unable to give a concise delivery date for the newly developed 55mm Hurricane, you may wish to consider purchasing a proven 52mm version which we currently have in stock.
We are confident that there will be a market for reselling it at a later stage if you want.
Once again I apologise for the delay, but I am confident the wait will be well worth it.

Damian,
Thank you for the response and I thoroughly understand and appreciate your predicament in relation to not being able to release the product until all testing is complete.
Your explanation does however differ from what I have been told over the last 4 weeks which was that the manifolds were complete and that you were waiting on the trumpets which are externally sourced.I was even advised that I could have a manifold less the trumpets to allow the engine build process to continue.
Perhaps Harrop should review their policies in relation to ensuring that all product developement is complete prior to advising customers of product availability.
I experienced similar difficulties when you released your dry sump package for the LS1 which was displayed and advertised at the Holden/Ford show back in October last year at which time I was advised they would be about a month away from release.
Come February this year with still no firm commitment on availability I regrettably had to source an alternative dry sump arrangement after patiently waiting for three months for you guys.
While I am not endeavouring to publicly air dirty laundry here you guys must be aware of the detrimental effect that these delays can have on your loyal customers and the projects they are undertaking.
As for your suggestion that I purchase a 52mm manifold in the interim and then have to sell it when the 55mm manifolds are ready how about I suggest that you sell me a 52 for the price of a 55 and exchange it when they are complete.
This would not only help my predicament but would allow you guys some back to back data on the performance increase of the larger manifold on a big cube ,big solid cammed LS2 for which they have been designed for.

Mark,
Whilst I do not wish to get into a forum battle :box: , yes agreed some things have not been ideal, and unfortunately both times you have been the customer with these new products that has had to wait.
If only everyone was as eager as you to be the first to purchase any of our new Harrop Performance products :)
We have completed our initial batch of LS1 version dry sump assemblies, but still do not have a solution for the LS2 version that would suit the engine you ultimately built :(
Another Friday has come and gone, and you guessed it, the only component not manufactured in house at Harrop Enginnering, is still not ready.
Feel free to come in first thing on Monday morning and collect the 55mm Hurricane less the trumpet assemblies to enable your awesome "rebuild" to continue.
We have no problem with anyone "publicly airing dirty laundry" as it enables us to review our processes to ensure these types of incidents are minimised and ultimately eliminated.
As stated previously, we thank you for your honest feedback and look forward to you posting some results of this latest combination.
See you Monday.
