Couple of interesting sights in this mornings' traffic going to work:

1. Clean black XR6 with 'sports' exhaust - non-turbo. Dual round outlets like a Holden. Mate, wasted your dough. Cool look, but it sounds like a pair of Mini Mokes when you get on it - loud enough to hear from inside another car, but sad.

2. New $250K Mercedes V8 4-door coupe. On back of a towie. On way back to Brighton Mercedes. Not damaged so must be a breakdown. Not a good look.

3. VY SS ute, Cosmos, 'zorst, pretty clean, not bad rumble from HSV-type exhaust. But the '300' and Chev badges look a bit try-hard IMO. Probably look better de-badged, and be a better Q-ship.

Anyone who wants my fashion arbitration on your wheels, line forms here

1. Every VT you see with 'rice' tail lights but the stock garnish still fitted.

2. Every 'riced' up Commodore I am seeing, lately. Unfortunately they are becoming more common than 'riced' up 'rice' cars.

3. 'Cannon' mufflers on things other than pure Japanese performance cars. An exhaust is an industrial bit of equipment, why be such a show of with it when you have no performance to speak of. A huge cannon muffler mounted sideways on an auto lancer is not a good look, especially with the loud boomy fart noise coming out of it, very sad indeed.

Or the guys I see constantly with their cars plastered with HSV badges, wheels, skirts, spoiler, tailights and a 6 cylinder to boot, always gives me a giggle. Dont see the point myself personally, dont know about you guys but it just looks plain stupid IMHO. Good for a laugh I suppose.

Yesterday i saw something that made me go Hmmmm...

Driving along near Rhodes I saw a Vauxhall Monaro... had all the badges, etc, but the usual NSW numberplate. Now it could have just been rebadged for the look/sake of it, or it could have been imported... which leads to the next question of why?

It looked and sounded quite nice... not stock would be one way of putting it.

Certainly made me go hmmmm!

A while back i was at my mechanics and saw wot i thought was a VT Senater (spelling), he was checking it over for a local car dealers, then he said, "have a look inside" it was a stock VT with a senater body kit and monaro lights (with the VT reverse lights left in!!! ) and chrome wheels. they wanted 22k at the local car dealer, seen it around a bit now with p plates.
what ever does it for you i guess

peber: maybe the reason he changed it so it gets noticed. Obviously it works. :p

I agree with other comments - saw a nice looking HSV Clubby the other day, looked the goods til I drove up along side it - still had an Ecotec badge on the front fender. Oh my :(

Seen similar things myself when I was looking for my car, as you say whatever does it for you I guess.

Still cant work out why you would put a Gen III or HSV bages on a VS executive 6 cylinder, dont laugh I seen this on a car in melbourne the other day. I think the guy beside me summed it up best, he was in a clubby R8 he just looked across and shook his head :D

Things that make me roll my eyes....

1. Fluffy or other seat belt covers (left over from the mid 90's)
2. No Frills ($1000 for a set of 4 with tyres) 18's on VT onwards, or no frills 17's on VB - VS
3. Cars that are lowered at home with an angle grinder (usually the back sags so it's 1-2 inches lower than the front)
4. I've got to say clear tail lights-this may offend some people on this forum but to me they look so ricer brigade
5. 6 inch tail pipes that drone like a mo fo on hona civic's and hyundai excels etc
6. Cards where the door handles or and wiper blades and other bit's and peices are painted in a bright or fluro colour...
7. No frills guages and steering wheels
8. Monster Tacho's on a car that also has any thing of the above fitted...

I could go on but I won't. :o

But decided to stick with the GenIII badge cause I do want to show off a little

hahah Felony, I love that. In fact the worse one I seen was a mockup CLubbie here in melb, HSV bages on back and bonnet, side skirts, spoiler, exhuast even the clubsport decal on the back. Got up beside it, 2 ecotec badges...... My oh my is not the words I would use. MY advice for these P platers, get your nice 6 cylider commodore which is good, had one myself, get a nice stereo and mags, but just wait until your a bit older and settled and get yourself a real HSV. It just looks silly and most people just have a laugh at your expense, must really peeve off HSV owners....

Cracks me up !!! Maybe I am just getting old

Just remembered the reason I started this thread. I saw a '98/99 Astra City last night with the clear chromey Altezza(?) tails. Otherwise the car was stock, and the woman driving it looked like she fitted the same profile as my handbrake - forty-something librarian/dentists' clerk.

I couldn't work out why A) they even make them for a Middleage-Mobile like the TS Astra B) what would possess you to fit them? I mean, maybe on a SRi or a new Coupe they at least suit the look - but on a plain-jane brown hatch with stock plastic wheelcovers?

Maybe it's the inner Bogan? :box:

Like 60-year-old cardigan-wearers in silver AU Fairmonts or beige Camrys with stock wheeltrims - and a spoiler.......! :booty:

Something that made me go hmmmmm...
Was cruising along and see this mad bloke in a Jeep Cheoroke (spelling?) changing lanes and speeding. He ends up next to me on the left lane that ends up the road. I give it a bit and get up to the speed limit pretty quickly, this bloke it determined to pass me and flys by at about 110-120 in an 80 zone. I mean, what the? You got stomped by an HSV, your jeep ain't a performance car bud.

Unfortunately that's why (*IF* I had the money) I'd take a Monaro over a 4-door HSV any day .... would take a lot of effort for some diehard to modify a Exec into a Monaro :)

At least it's never had to be trailered to the dealer. I hope the owner didn't have to pay for that undocumented example of Mercedes engineering excellence. I certainly hope he got some white-glove M-B service.

I never pretended to be anything except a balding, greying, middle-aged-spreading fart ensconced in my own mid-life crisis - what's your excuse for being a 'stroker'?

Good with the opposite sex? Moi? (battles Altzheimers to recall last nooky in 25 years' marriage). It's not chicks who check out Monaros, anyhow. They're looking for bigger fish to fry - like the afforementioned Merc Coupe.

Followed a VT Exec (Ecotec AND Automatic) with 8 inch high "DRIFT" sticker on the windscreen, stormwater drain exhaust out of the standard cut-out, but coming out at the standard ricer 45 degree angle to the left (presumably for the exhaust pressure to re-direct the back end of the car in the right direction while "drifting":D ) Had some really crappy mags on it and it was headed out to Tara?!

The best place for a laugh is down on Chapel St in Melb, many many 6 cylinder commodores with the HSV badges and exhausts so big that a bowling ball could fit in there. Still sound like sh** though, terrible.

What posseses these people to do these things is beyond me, just de-valuing there cars too, who wants to buy one of those cars second hand.

There are quite a few Toyota Echos going round with the biggest cannon exhausts fitted I've seen. They're almost bigger than the Echo's wheel.

The driver's are women, a particular nationality, and it's catching on. They drive like lunatics. Weaving to get the front spot in traffic, and launching their echo. :p

When you're driving something that has the power and economy of a 'smart' car, why not accept it for what it is, why try make it a sports car hey? ;)

Saw a 200SX yesterday which had great light-blue paint and obligatory little driver in daggy big cap sitting low enough to only just see over the window sill. The clown had what looked like 20" white wheels (rooly nice they were  ) and suspension so low that the car bounced 6" every time he went over a tiny bump in the road. Protons are Malaysian.

Thing with Ricers that shits me to tears is they take a perfectly good econobox, OK for its design and purpose and try to turn it into something 'cool.' Or in the new Commodore Ricer (increasingly common), taking a family sedan and trying to make something cool of it.

Another couple:

1. Chrome 'bling' style rims on anything other than luxury cars. That is what they are for people! A luxury wheel! Not for your econobox, not for your 200SX, not for your ute! (I may have offended people there, if so, if you like it..whio cares?) Even though most of the chrome rims you see on cars are cheap nasty things.

2. Whitewalls- on new cars/new rims. WTF? Why are people trying to blend every style under the sun? This amounts to something which is in seriously bad taste.

About half an hour ago I saw a series 1 VT, had the 5 litre "V8" badge on it but couldn't hear it so not sure if it's genuine, the front bar was the VS V8 supercar style with the two rounded air intakes near the bottom of the bar, big (again) VS V8 supercar rear wing, bermuda blue colour, and 15" rims, tacky VT clubsport style side skirts with silver highlights, and a silver stripe from the bottom right of the front bumper, over the bonnet, roof, boot, and down the rear bumper, in the style of a HK 327 GTS. No stripe on the wing though...

Looked a bit too try-hard and not to my liking, but a bit more unique I guess.

On another note, have seen a few commy's following the disturbing ricer trend of matt black bonnets on a white/silver/whatever colour car.

Cheers

The other night I was coming home through town and i was monstered by a.....a....well....I couldn't quite work it out for a while...It sort of looked a bit like a... a Camry of a few years back, but it was too big for a Camry. It was painted in that chameleon constantly changing paint which seemed to change from brown to baby-shiite, to maroon, to gold to.....etc. And...it had two 6" howitzers out the back and huge pumped guards, and black window tint, and an enormous cow-catcher front spoiler and V8SC rear wing, and humungous wheels....and a little bloke who must have been sitting on the floor and bore a striking resemblance to Dicky Knee (no, not our Dicky Knee...just the cap version). And it was a V8.... Ahh Huh! I could finally trace the DNA back to what had once been one of Japan's finest...a Lexus LS400 sedan. Mwhahah GOLD :D

I hate it when you beat them up to the speed limit by a good 100 metres or so then they fly past 10 seconds later speeding excessivly, thinking they have somehow won.
The key is once youv'e toasted them you should stand on the brakes so they can clearly see you have won if you don't brake they think they have won.

I know minux already said it, but VN - VS's with VT + body kits - WHAT THE HELL!!!!

Did they not notice how shite they look when they left the spray painters, or the fact that the lines of the panel DO NOT MATCH the rest of the car. I can not express how much I hate that look.

saw something take the cake today. 1992 celica, with the boot area mangled into a single flat panel, with monaro tail lights! now i might have given him a bit of kudos if he got them straight, but they were tiled downwards at such an angle it looked like a monaro ****ed a celica. completely ridiculous :)

in the same trip saw a hilux, big chromies, flat tray at the back, p platers, with a couple of mini rachet straps holding down a case of crown lager. CROWN LAGER! bunch of poofs :)

lol, there is a black Landcruiser getting around Palmerston
NT with monster Chromies. Talk about Pimpin my ride.
And whilst ducking down the shops for Milk and Beer
saw a Silver VZ Clubbie, but it wasn't a Clubbie. Had
all the kit, gold Commodore and Executive badges,
VZ SS wheels with gold nuts and centre caps and still
wore the V6 badges (yes, in gold).

in regards to the VS with GenIII badges.....if anyone in melb has seen it what posses someone to respray an ecotec 6, exec VS in hothouse green, add GenIII badges to the fenders, chev badges back and front and then purchase scratched up second hand Monaro/GTS rims.....now thats a my oh my, also to the people purchasing series one VT execs and then adding a whole Monaro front (headlights, bar etc) and a monaro rear (tailights and also rear bar) and some i've seen the extent of modifying the rear boot to the monaro boot, yes thats right, so it has that little lip at the end :bash:
and then the nerve to even attempt to have a drag
i could go on with the mock ups i see, and it makes me sick!!!
Saw the Same sort of thing up here in QLD , i was walking around the Corner from work to get some Lunch ( salad of Course ) and i saw a Green VS with Gen III badges! i laughed at the side and thought "you wish mate" then on the way back the bloke was stading out the front with the bonnet up , i was a bout to say Wow an LS1 ecotec When i saw an Ugly looking turtle cover staring back at me  needless to say i stoped and had a Chat with the owner, he turned out to be a Top Bloke. Not sure if he is a member but i dare say that from what he said he will hear more of this one. :D
