Hi all,

I'm back online after a 3 month break due to work. I took my sleeper on a road trip from Townsville to Adelaide and return via Sydney. Whilst in ADL I got bored and visited the drags and made 5 runs down the black stuff.......good fun. :D
I also got the 70k service done and they diagnosed the dreaded piston slap, what I want to know is people's experiences with getting this fixed under warranty, good or bad.

I also accidentally put the foot to the floor :p around Broken Hill and found out nearly how fast my sleeper will go. Those 20km long straights just get the better of you. Are the VY's speed limited?

I ended up doing 7600 odd ks all up with an average of 10.2 lt per 100, taken from bowser. Best of 9.2, and worst of 13.8 around town.

cheers

Mark from PT told me that Holden have tightened right up in respect to engine rebuilds due to excessive noise from piston slap/gudgeon rattle. He suggested that if I approached Holden on the basis of excessive oil usage that I would have more of a chance of getting a rebuild. I am now on a 5000 kilometer 'test' to see if in fact the motor is using excessive oil. Holden did tell me that anything under 2 1/2 liters per 10,000ks was not considered excessive and that Holden would be unlikely to do anything about it. I told them we sould see about that.... :box:
