Yesterday i went out to the drift nationals at oran park, was enjoying my self till i heard over the pa system that they had found my car... at this stage i was thinking to my self.. i never lost it, so i go and find out whats going on, only to find out that my car had been stolen and they had crashed it while trying to get away. i've only owned the car for 2months and i'm 20 years old, the car is a 2001 vx senator, and in one of the photos from behind you can see the reflection in the tow truck next to it, thats the work of 7-8 coats of hand polish...so as you could imagine i'm rather unhappy about it..any ways the pics are at the link provided.. try not to cry like i did :(

BLOODY LOWLIFE SCUM!!!
That is truly sad to see, I feel for you mate. Hope they catch the scumbags who did it.
Look on the bright side, at least you didn't get it back stripped, torched or written off. Hopefully with a little tlc it'll be back to its former glory in no time.
Good luck with things.

ok..umm no they didn't catch them but they left blood on the car so the police are going to get that to hopfully get a match, the damage on the back is from the ba xr8 they were trying to push start it with... they had to smash the window to get in as the car was deadlocked and was still locked when i got to the car. yes it is insured, so thats a positive
as to frustration, i might have a hair line fracture in my foot from kicking the post my car is up against...seemed like a good idea at the time :bash:
but i will keep you all updated as to what happens with the thieves and weather the car gets written off or i get it back...
to make things better, the car was smashed at the exit to the race track parking, so for the 3 hours i was there for everyone was having there comments on how good my driving was thinking that i had crashed it, need less to say none of them started when i yelled at the to stop there car and come back and say it to my face...

Sad to see that kind of damage done, looks like a pro job since any LS1 is nearly impossible to steal.
Make it an opportunity to improve on the cars paint, the quality of the stock paint is crap. Did they catch the thieves? Hopefully some charges laid and money to compo for the damages.

It's a beautiful car Apexi, you'll have it sorted in next to no time.
It's sick to think our society is filled with people who want to just take someone else's property instead of wanting to work hard and earn it.
They can't take away the fact you earned that car at such a young age.
Make sure you get your ankle/foot checked out too bud. The last thing you want is worrying about your car and then when it's all fixed having serious problems with walking or pain while driving.

I thought the HSVs had a fairly decent immobiliser?
Did the police do fingerprints? Blood sample isnt that good as they only have access to the DNA of prisoners, and not people under 18, misdemeanor offences etc.

Commiserations for your Senator. Hope it's back on the road soon. It does suck. I can understand the way you feel personally insulted. It's your car and you paid for it, how dare they try to nick it. Unfortunately when you have nice stuff some people simply refuse to believe that you obtained it the right way, since they either don't have the ability or the inclination to do the work to get nice stuff as well. So they justify their actions in any way they can. I can't believe all the pricks having a go at your driving at the gate!
Aside from the c*%$ factor, I can't believe they managed to run it into the sturdiest fence in the southern hemisphere..... Check out the wire on that sucker..... A bit faster and they would have been picking up the drivers head from the passenger footwell........

Its all looks cosmetic, bar the a-pillar. I hope she all comes up shmik again. BTW nice ride you got there with the coulsen head-rests and 6 speed. Rare find in a Senator.

Dude, thats bad, its painful to see such a nice car beaten up
People should get a good alarm before this happens! You can get an alarm that will send you SMS's, tilt, microwave, all entry points, immobliser, shock, glass break etc, Even if you you a factory system, nothing comes close to after market! Just think, a factory system is the same in every car, work out one car, and you got em all beat

Bloody oxygen thief's.....I feel so sorry for you Apexi. Being insured, hopefully it will all work out OK in the end.
Just a thought to members, think before posting a response to seldo's question, whilst it would be nice to know how it was stolen so owners can be aware of that risk, we don't want people advertising all the methods crooks can use to flog your LS1. That could put ideas in some "viewers" heads, if you get my drift....

Good point Gordie. I guess I was wondering if they used a slide-hammer or some such, and on reflection, maybe he doesn't want to tell us in case it compromised his insurance claim. I was also wondering if I need to take some more precautions with mine since I park in the street...(old house has a double garage designed for an Austin 7 and a Ford Prefect, so it simply doesn't fit...)

That's a good point, but most of the performance car thefts are usually done more by professionals than by novices, HSVs are not supposed to be as simple as hotwiring. There is a fair bit of public info already available on this topic

From memory (got the stat's somewhere), i am sure they show that these so called 'professionals' are such a small minority that they bearly rate a mention...
When you think about it, it makes sense, someone with 'know how' to overide such a system can clear a phew hundred a day installing after market alarms/steros etc.
I'd be far more worried about a jack ass atempting to beat me up for my keys or breaking into your house, taking your keys and then they have your ride...

Yep, your right - I read some stats earlier that had 58% of all HSVs stolen in SA (the sample state) having the keys stolen prior to the theft. 11% had faulty immobilisers, 1% carjacked, the rest unknown or not disclosed.
ApeXi

OK, if you read an earlyer post it will tell you about the theft, but i will run through it one more time from what i was told by people who say it all happen
ok, they tryed to pop the lock and couldn't as it was dead locked, so they smashed the window and climbed in. only to find i had a starter motor kill switch on plus standard hsv alarm. i'm guessing they tryed to *uck around with the wiring to at least get power, they then tryed push starting (not sure wiether it started) the car with a BA xr8, after running into the fence the *uckwit in my car climbed out the window cuting his hand and leaving blood (wish it was he head that was chopped off) they then got into the xr8 and side swiped the 2 cars on the way out that saw it happen ( one of the cars had gone and told security and was heading back out of the venue) as for one of the poor drivers that was side swiped only had 3rd party, so he is out of pocket unless that get caught. so all around 3 people (possable 4 considering the xr8 might have also been stolen) are in dept jew to these low life piece's of shit
..i hope that clears things up for people, if you have any more questions i'll try to answer them with the infomation i know..

Mate.....
Very sorry to hear about your drama.
Blood = DNA. The DNA profile will be stored on the DNA database. Bad people do bad things, generally over and over again.
One day this person will go to gaol or have his DNA sample taken then when the profile is matched, a light will go off somewhere and bingo..you will meet your crook!
Sorry to hear of your dramas mate!
Ordinarily, I'd be tempted to say that current Commodore and Falcon anti-theft systems can't be defeated, but that begs the question: how did they pinch the BA XR8?
Have the crims found a way around the VZ / BA fleet hack anti-theft systems? Even if they have, I thought the HSV anti-theft system was much harder to crack.
If you're able to figure out what they were (and were not) able to do, you can use this info to avoid a similar event in the future.
If they tried to push start a car with the steering and ignition locked, they're either brain dead yobbos or like to cause grief to HSV owners. I'm not sure what you could reasonably do to deter future idiots in this case. A wheel clamp is not all that practical and it'd probably invite duco scratchers.
If they got the engine going, I'd say that HSV owners have something to worry about and that there's a need to a back-up anti-theft system. the trouble with factory fitted gear is that it's STANDARD. Can a thief learn how a factory anti-theft system works by obtaining a similar car and play with the anti-theft system? If you fit an after market system such as TOUCH-TECH, only YOU know where the system lives and how to defeat it.
Here's an idea. Install an electro-mechanical bonnet lock (similar to the VY - VZ boot release) and fit a cut-out switch in the engine bay. Only you will know where to hook up the 12v to open the bonnet. The down-side? If the system ever breaks, you'll need an axe to get into the engine bay! :(

how the hell does a 20 year old afford a genuine senator when I'm 20 and finding it hard enough to just afford repayments and insurance on a pov pack Executive V6? Sorry but its just a question that no one can really answer but it bugs the hell out of me.
Not trying to start a fight, argument or have a go at anyone, but I'm just wondering how its done because I couldnt do it if I tried, and trust me I tried, the earliest I'll really be able to afford a V8 of any sort is when I'm 25 and insurance is cheap enough,

Works hard, family money, won lotto ...
There is any number of ways a 20 year old could afford a VX Senator. I imagine many probably ask the same questions about me at 29. Some people can afford it, some can't ... I wouldn't worry about it. Do the best you can and don't worry about others, there is ALWAYS someone with more than you.
