Will an OTRCAI fit under a VZ Monaro Bonnet on a Monaro.
I have been told it doesn't fit, but the following HSV VZ GTO LS2 Monaro seems to have OTRCAI and the VZ bonnet with the scoops?

Some of the OTRs don't fit.. due to the slight downward buldge under the scoops. I thought this was the case for the P/T one... but not sure. You can always make your own...

in the Pic it does look like a PT OTR.

I thought they didnt fit...

He is probably just using it for shows while the bonnet is up..

Thanks for the reply's guys, he could have it on just for shows, it would be good to know if it really did fit though.

Closer pic.

I have been told NO NO NO everywhere. but look at this  Maybe it is only for the shows when the bonnet is up, like you said.

The first pic the CAI looks like it is sticking up way too far for the bonnet to be closed, I'm going to vote for "its only for show" :)

Just phoned Active Automotive, and got ,huh dah what, dunno that car

Edit oops wrong Active Automotive, I was put through to nsw,, there is one in Perth but not answering My Bad    perhaps too early yet.

The answer from Active Automotive, Perth is "Remove rubber block and slight mod to underside of the bonnet, no big deal really"
This all doesn't mean a real lot to me as I dont have a Monaro/Gto Bonnet here to look at.

Yep, that's the Perth mob. I think the photos are from the AME show at Burswood.

Yes these pics are from the AME Show.
If you rang them and they said theirs a slight mod to the underside of the bonnet to get it too fit, it must not fit on a stock vz bonnet, but if its a simple mod under the bonnet to get it to fit, its all good. :)

The chap that answered the phone was quite ok about giving away his secrets 08 9456 1111,
The reason I have been so Interested is because I just had a new front fitted, (VZ SS guards bonnet & bar,) and I was, and still might, fit the VZ bonnet with the Monaro skin & vents fitted. but even with this modded bonnet the channels for the scoops still come almost to the front of the bonnet, so I am told.
Cheers Tonner.

The P/T unit does fit under a VZ bonnet but you will need to cut alot of plastic from the radiator shroud and from the neck of the OTR such that it sits right on the radiator and A/C condensor. Even then mine still rubs on the underside of the bonnet and the bonnet catch is adjusted out slightly so that the bonnet sits up a few mm.

I can see where you would cut the bonnet underside to fit but you don't necessarily have to if you can live with the bonnet slightly up.

Personally, I am going to look at cutting the bonnet inner skin.

I had to Cut most of my Plastic radiator Shroud away to get my OTR to fit anyway.

As so many are adding the VZ style bonnet to their rides. I can't see why no shop out there wouldn’t want to make a proper CAI that utilises these scoops. This should create a much clearer opening for an AIR RAM effect.

Something similar to what Arrowhead in the US is trying out with this prototype on their 05’ GTO.

I thought the bonnet scoops were non functional?
They have bungs in the back of them and then
there is the under bonnet lining. Can they be
made to feed air into the engine?

As they come from the factory the scoops serve no key function. You could debate that they assist in keeping the engine cooler. They 'bungs' from memory (i never installed mine) still let air through.
The underbonnet lining again from memory is cut to suit the bungs.

Yes they can be made to feed the engine. I have done it with BPP (Bunnings Performance Parts).

I like the way they approached it... similar to what I did... but I didn't have a filter.

Well it depends what you mean by "non functional". They don't feed air directly into any intake, but do feed air into the engine bay. The lining under the bonnet is already cut out where some rubber caps fit over. Even these caps have very small slots facing backwards (I assume to allow rising heat to escape). It only takes a few seconds to remove these caps (they just clip in and out) and you have direct air feeding into the engine bay. Many have done this to their VZ Monaro's/GTO's, as I have.

I've also had plenty of arguments with people in denial continually claiming that they're fake, that no air is directed into the actual engine bay. Arguments stop and turn into apologies when I pop the bonnet and prove to them otherwise.

If you noticed in the pics, they have a rubber lining around the outside of their air box which seals against the bonnet when closed, keeping heat out. One thing I have noticed is that after driving, the bonnet gets real hot except in the two spots in front of the intakes of the scoops. The flow of air into the scoops keeps these two areas so much cooler than the rest of the bonnet.

Have you tried pulling the seal off the top of the
firewall? Amazing the amount of heat that escapes
between there and the rear of the bonnet. Still not
convinced that the VZ fluted bonnet would feed the
US air intake you have in your photo?

Charlie at Conrod is working on a new OTRCAI to fit under the new Munro bonnets. Might not be too far away.

Hope it looks better than the "dual toilet roll holder" red pontiac prototype

Anyone got some contact details of these Conrod ppl???
