I picked up my 05 GTO a couple of weeks ago and just wanted to express how amazing this car is and how lucky we are to have it in the US. I love it more every time I get in it. I have attached some pictures for two reasons: 1. To show off  2. To find out what wheels these are. Do they come standard on another Holden model?

Thanks for the help!

Very nice ... not sure about the wheels, don't think are on anything over here, look familiar though

Keep reading and it won't be stock for long

Thanks for the replies fellas.

I did some research and I found out several things. First, Holden's numbering system is thoroughly confusing. "I drive a Holden Monaro XVY SS HSV Series III Niner." I am assuming that the series III is a vehicle that is no longer available? I could not find it on Holden's website.

Something interesting I noticed was that the current Monaro is equiped with the LS1.....no LS2 or is that HSV models only? Also, the exhaust that is on the GTO is an option on the Monaro?.....like $1400AU at that. That seems very strange that we get the goodies for so much less.

One more thing....I come from a Poncho family. Anything but a split grille would look odd to me. :D

I knew those wheels looked familar

No LS2 in any Holden at this stage ... HSV only. $1400 for an exhaust is normal over here, and don't remind us what you pay for the car :(

Good to hear your happy though, but no matter what you say the front looks wrong :p

The good thing about Pontiac's branding, the front is consistent across their entire range. Might not be to everyone's tastes, but you know what it is when it's approaching, that's good branding.

I think it's something Holden will start doing with the VE. Keeping more of a consistent look to the larger and smaller cars so straight away someone knows it's a Holden.

Great looking car Josh. Feel free to add your pics to the coupe thread in the multimedia section. :D http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=33601

yeah $1400 more, if you look closely, holden can't sell the GTO exhaust on the cars cause they don't meet EPA requirements and therefore dont meet ADRs and are therefore defectable. I like the way they can sell this as an option but mention that because you will get defected it is for off road use only. Now the only time I could see some one using their monaro off road is on a closed race circuit, but that would then void their warrenty. so in effect if you have that exhaust you either get your car defected(which is illegal for a car yard to sell a car that doesn't meet ADRS) or void your warrenty.I would like to see holden get out of that hole that they are digging themselves

Hey Champ,

Sweet buy! Our models are pretty straight forward, I guess we are all used to it. We refer to you model as a VZ Monaro. The VZ is derived it is the lastest in the series of models (started at VB and worked through to VZ). The series denotes revisions to any particlar series. Normally each model eg VZ, has a run of about 2-3 years, and see's 2 or 3 editions with very subtle changes (hence series I, II, III). I hope that clears that up a bit.

And yes the LS2 has only been put between the rails of our HSVs (Holden Special Vehicles).

Great to see a Yank happy with the GTO!!! All I ever read are crappy reviews and negative web postings. I drove a few of USAs current "finest" when on holidays last year and wasn't overly impressed. For the driving I did I would have preferred a stocky V6 Commodore over the typical FWD sedans I was lumbered with ..

To heck with the critics. I believe that most of them do not even like cars. Most mags here have given the GTO many positive comments but always throw in a bland styling comment. I don't really care what anyone says, I've wanted a Holden since I saw V8 Supercars at Mt. Panarama.

I took my car to Petit Le Mans this past weekend and it was a hit. The car looks so different in person, I received nothing but positive comments. Even among Porsches, Ferraris, Vettes, and Vipers it still attracted a lot of attention and questions. I saw one other GTO at the event and it was a 2004.....that was the first one I had seen since I purchased mine 3 weeks ago.

I'm sure someone already has, but I'd like to invite ya'll to visit our forum as we could use as much input as possible. I'm sure you guys have figured out some things that we are still learning. http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/

Very nice and congrats.
Make sure you enjoy it at a track also and see what it can do on the quarter and circuit if you can get it.
I hope you guys still have cheap fuel ...we are suffering here :(

Our fuel prices are extremely high, but not nearly as high as what I have read on this forum. I payed $3.42/gal for 93 octane last night....thats about $.90 a liter. If my conversion is correct, that is $1.18AU per liter.

Slightly off topic but does anybody know if the Exhaust of the Pontiac Gto and our Vz clubsports exhaust are the same??As in headers, the way they are shaped or being lefthand drive they are shaped different.Asking as there are a few good brands like SLP and Kooks doing a good quality header at a good price just not sure if they fit.

I would love to, but they don't show the Supercars anymore. I haven't seen them in several years, and we get very little coverage of any road racing. I guess Speed TV thinks I would rather see what Jeff Gordon does in his spare time.

Is coverage available online anywhere?

I'm sure that the headers are different. However, if you can get yours off the car, I bet Kooks could build you a one off set. Probably pricey though.

Thought as much,i just love the finish of some of your products a nice clean stainless look with the manafacturers logo on the top looked sensational.
