Sitting next to a TOG Pursuit ( blue with the graphics ) at the lights this morning. It launched after a red light runner and the exhaust note was very impressive. Seemed very beefy, not as bovine as mine of course but still impressive. How modded are these pursuits? This did not sound stock.

i can say with absolute certainty that it is bog stock.

The rest is just urban legend. :p

Given that you haven't identified the police vehicle involved I can't say with certainty but I can suggest with the current user pays/cost recovery/operate public sector organisations as a fully private sector company, I would suggest that it is a 99.9 percent bet that the vehicle you saw and heard was bog stock standard.

Of course there is always the chance that a particular police officer may "know some people who knows some people who robbed some people" and as a result is able to organise an aftermarket "tune" for a late model ford or holden - but there are the issues of workplace health and safety, criminal liability, civil law culpability, to consider with a rogue police officer who was responsible for tweaking up a vanilla police vehicle IF IT WAS INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS INCIDENT resulting in serious injury or death.

I heard a fully marked VZ SS Police car in North Sydney recently fully boot it and there is no way it sounded stock! Sounded really good! Probably just intake mods or something though.

Having driven and worked on a few, bog stock!

Even a bog stock v8 having its guts thrashed out is always going to sound ok from the outside... so it's easy to make the mistake.

On an even more anal note.. they haven't been called the TOG for about 4 years :D

Evening,

Not being rude, but how can ALOOF in QLD swear catagorically that a Vic Plod car is BOG STOCK?
Telepathy?

Cheers,

my old man brings home tmu cars occasionally... they are totally stock! not even an air filter, or exhaust, anything. only mods to them are radios/antennas/radar guns/rear sunshades and flashing lights... oops forgot the siren!

apart from that they're the same as any other ss you would buy from holden.

Maybe a post in this forum : http://members4.boardhost.com/auspolvehicles/index.html?1093571543
could clear things up from those that actually do the driving/fitouts.

Doesn't even look like a stock SS, XR8 or even WRX qualifies ??-

15. FUEL TANK 1. Have sufficient capacity to provide
driving range of 450 km.

I can get 800km from a full tank in my 3 year old clubby, can't imagine why any of those cars listed would have any problem matching that.

One of the coppers(TMU) I used to be mates with said a few times they needed to refill their TMU car at 200km's (SS's), just outside of melb. Now, if I am getting 300 from a tank... not too many coppers are getting much more than 200km using them for traffic police work - think about it:

1. Wait for speeding motorist, start engine, go flat out for short period.
2. Stop car and wait again.

I highly doubt vic cars would have chips in them either, also I doubt most coppers would even know what was in them from my experience. They gets sucked into the urban myths sometimes as well.

Why would the government spend more money on a car that already gets to 100km/h in 6 seconds when their requirements state it only needs to get to 100 in 9 seconds. ??? The ex-cop SS's seem to dyno the same as stock ones from what i've seen too.

Also I find it hard to beleive any state would lower them considering all the obstables the police frequently negotaite... i.e waiting off the road for speeders, going over gutters and round abouts... driving over crooks.

It just isnt a wise business decision to pump more money into these things.

I haven't searched but I think this topic has been covered a few times before on this site.

Speaking from experience here, most TMU guys love cars and know more than you would think. A lot even have a background in mechanics.

God only knows whey the have requirements such as these.
Sitting on the side of the road with the car running or even travelling in opp direction and there is now way in hell you'll catch anybody by making sure youve got a car that'll do 0-100 in 9 Sec. Speeds up to 150+ are commonly seen just to make up the distance by the pursuing vehicle.

Only mod from Holden is the reduced wheel size from 18's back to 17 and the corresponding tyre placard (from a calais) to make sure it remains legal.

You right it has been done to death numerous times. NO MODS!!!!! ...

Evening,

Hey, Big Bloke, what eva happened to the idea that the boys were going to use the SV8's.
That circulated a while ago and the theory was that it was to be a cost cutting measure?
Not stirring, coz I know that nice chairs in the "office" are important!
Just wondered.
When ya getting the Cam mate?

Cheers,

Hogs, ;)

One thing I know is around here the TMU cars get 20% tint so we can't see their lights etc. (Yes 20% tint is illegal for us mere mortals)
