Pity there cant be a few other cars racing (differant classes) to bulk up the field and make it even more exciting. Tuna can have his Turbo, you can have a Whipple, Capa a Vortec, maybe a PWR thrown in and PT with a nice big stroker.

Excellent work in getting a car in the race. Ill be watching for it... from home unfortunately :(

jsttry wins the prize - although you may forfiet since you have seen the hyper setups in the shop :)

Yes I belong to a couple of internet racing sites and we race using a modded version of Nascar2003 that fully simulated the real thing ( other than the near death crashes )

We do a full series throughout the year and normally do a full bathurst a week or so after the real thing.

This is some serous racing doing a full bathurst 1000 complete in full simulation mode with driver changes etc.

I wish I could afford the real thing but this is as close as this blokes going to get :D

I'd still like to see a race with all the "players" with LS1's doing bathurst.

Maybe Dan can have a Sim meet :)

Every october I remember back to Bathurst when we competed in our V8 supercar in the Konica sprint race.

It was only 3 years ago but it seems like it was a lifetime ago. From memory we got caught up in a first lap incident but was abale to limp it home inside the top 10 .

Nothing like the mountain in a Real V8 Supercar.

PhonsyI was invited to run my HQ up there in 96 & couldn't escape work :( Must have been a buzz for you.I remember you ran 12th in the main race running a best time of 2.22.50.Even though only 12 cars finished it was a great effort for you to finish the race as many others didn't.

Well the giveaway it was a render for me was the glitch above the rear window that has the name on it. The little bit sticking through the roof

But real cars are modelled before final paint schemes finished arent they? For sponsers approval etc? so still thought you were sponsering a real car for the race

Oh well back to my simulator. Have played on the Nascar2003 Mod, but mainly GTR and rFactor these days when I get time.

PS - Thats a bloody impressive Hyperstim setup there.

Yes it was a blast. We went much quicker in the practise and qualifiying.
The 2.22 lap time was with a bent lower arm that happened on the first lap of the race.
Was a little hairy down conrod with the car tracking from one side of the straight right over to the grass at a reduced speed of 250km.
We were going to park it but decided to soldier on to record a great result thanks to the Tortoise and Rabbit game play.

Dreams are such a wonderful thing. All little kids do it.

Post 1 is a dream that may happen one day

Post 25 - Delco eating Tuna. Ooooh that conjures up a scarey mental picture. VYSHSV8 should get a one month ban for that one!! :D :D

GM Motorsport
You should be proud to be one of the few here that have been lucky enough to drive a supercar in anger at Bathurst. You have done what many of us wish and dream of. My hat goes off to you and would still even if it had of been 3 minute lap. You have lived what most kids dream of one day doing.

Bet you were a few pounds lighter back then compared to now :D (couldnt be too nice)

One of my Tradesmen, Matt Hunt was in the same race. He said to say hello. He was coming 5th and there were 3 cars dicing for 3rd place. His clutch failed with 3 laps to go. :bash: At least you got to finish. His car did 302km/h down conrod. If you still have your car, you can enter it in Touring Car Challenge. It is a good category, a lot cheaper, and they have TV coverage as well.

Glen,

The budget to buy a Development series car, good spares package, prime mover and trailer, engineering, and running it for 12 months is $1,000,000 or $2,000,000 for 3 years.

I didn't see the times they made this year, but last year the front runners in the AU's were doing high 2:08's and in the main game they did low 2:08's. It makes it too hard for privateers to compete because it is hard finding sponsors willing to outlay that sort of money.

Touring Car Challenge you can pick up a VS Commodore for around $65,000 + depending on the spares, etc

Cheers
Greg

Bathurst is a great track. I ran their in 1998 in my formula vee but it was still great fun.

I looked at driving in konica's last year but at $350k for the year as a driver, i just couldn't justify/find the money. I would expect that it would cost about $50-60k per race to run a konica though. What did it cost??

You doing the 5 speed or 6 speed in the 2003 software dan??

I am racing in a league at the moment using a new 6 speed patch for Nascar 2003...heaps of fun, can see me having to buy my own sim before long.
