ok lots of ppl are going to say "mate your an ass-clown..." for asking this but here goes:

i have read a couple of times (maybe complete bs but thats why i thought id ask ppl with more knowledge than me) that a GM LS1 fits into a nissan 240sx.
Is it true? im aware engine change overs are tricky and expensive, but what im more or less asking is, does the motor fit onto the engine mounts etc?
thanks in advance

Not sure, but I do have a videa of a blown ls1 in a 240ZX from the states. Have you seen that? Its no BS and the thing goes sideways down the freeway, as easily as it goes straight .
BUT ... considering the trouble people have getting LS1's into early model holdens, shoe-horning one into a baby datsun would be a LOT of hard work.

The transmission tunnel for a start would need massive modification.

It can be done, as it has been done before ... but you'd have to be keen.

Custom driveshafts, custom everything ... might be cheaper to find that guy in the states and buy his ... and then all you would have is a right hand drive conversion to give you that "i built it myself" feeling :)

physically, an ls1 will fit easier into an s13/14 engine bay than a nissan v8, such as the vh41/45. by design, the pushrod v8 is much more compact than any dohc v8 that you will find from japan.

if you were wanting to know if it 'just bolts in', then you will be dissapointed to know that in most engine conversion cases, you will need new mounts, for both motor and the 'box, completely new wiring harness and cooling system.

anything can be done if you have enough money, but basically the general rule is, take the amount you think it will cost and double it.

for more help, id suggest checking out skylines australia (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com).

theres a few mad blokes there that have done a few wierd conversions like chev v8's into little nissans.
