Hi all,

I reluctantly sold my 02 GTO a few months ago and have been driving a Honda Accord Euro ever since.. nice car, but the enjoyment I used to get on the road is virtually non existant any more...

Anyway, I now have the chance to get back into a HSV... Any thoughts / advice on the following would be appreciated-

5th anniversary VP Senator (not the 5000i), galaxy blue (I think that's what the colour was called) immaculate condition throughout, interior in near new condition, 80% rubber on all four corners, full history & log books, one owner (a mate's father), HSV ISS fitted when the VT came out, hardly a mark on it, price somewhere in the $7k region.

Is there anything in particular that should be looked at on this model?

Thanks.

Thanks. You don't say how many Ks it's done, but it sounds like a fairly cheap car to me, as long as it hasn't been hit by the Southern Aurora etc! Mechanicals are easy to fix- the main thing I'd be looking at is the trim, which can be hard to replicate in some of the rarer models. Cheers, Pickles.

Ah the 180kw model. Solid car but slow as a wet weekend by todays standards. I had a 5000i and loved it but it was pretty modified when I bought it and my money went on replacing modified parts not original stuff so I cant comment on the car itself but I remember a few sensors going and little things so for $7k it should be a good toy.

If it's in as good as condition as you say, and the km's are low that's very cheap.

If you are at all interested you'd be crazy to pass it up. Hell you could buy it and probably put $5k on the price and well it next week if you don't enjoy it.

Sounds like a good buy at the price. I sold my VP Clubsport (below) for $16k 3 years ago. I loved the VP, I'm sure you'll love the Senator :)

thanks guys,

not too sure on the kms at the moment but it has been a daily driver so I suspect they could be up there some what. I do know that the oil has been changed every 5,000kms since new, the g'box has apparently had a full rebuild, and the diff is relatively new. Will find out more in the next couple of days.

I'm pretty certain I'll be grabbing it, so watch this space for pics :)

Why dont you get a Torana and drop a FI V8 into it :) - but seriously, the only thing I didnt like about the VN-VP shape was the square guards at the rear - though I have seen a couple where they have been bodyworked into a more usual shape which makes them look pretty good.

VN Group A DID have 17s and still a grouse looking wheel I might add.

$7k for that car is a steal if the interior, oil changes etc are anything to go by, then its a well looked after thing.

I gave up on that plan about 6 months ago when I sold my LH.. how's your Torana going?

I've decided to go ahead and buy it, will pick it up during the week.

has 250,000 on the clock but has been incredibly well cared for, paint is dull on the bootlid and roof but I already have a quote on new paint too. Interior is unbelievable for the age of the car - all the trim is spotless, some plastics are faded (eg. interior door handles) but all are easily replaceable.

Anyway, here's a quick pic:
