Ok, i wanna chuck just a cat back exaust on my VY2 Calais 5.7, has any of you fitted one?? I prob wont go SS ill just stick to mild steel and all I want is that nice throaty sound, what systems have you guys done and does it sound nice and beefy without that freeway drone.
Ive heard castle hill exaust does a good job and fits cat back for about 500 bucks.
Cheers

Hey
A few months back i got a mild steel Di Flippio exhaust fitted and its great, its a twin 2½inch cat back system, it has no drone unless under unessary load (never is) and sounds great :)
It was around the 900 mark installed... well worth it in my opinion

My experience:
Cat back only - more volume, slightly deeper note.
Headers added - burble, note, sounds like a V8.
If it's sound you're after, a cat back only may not give you what you want.

H I J A C K .....: I purchased a HSV cat back system off a forum member and we left the resinator off, sounds good. But I want louder,,,, I'm thinking of taking complete standard system I took off to a workshop and get them to remove the two mufflers and replace with pipe and just leave the resi on the back..
I saw a picture of this in a thread but cant find it now to ask what it sounds like

My ute had a cat back on it when i bought it. The HM Headers made a wonderful difference, I wouldnt just bother with a cat back, go the whole hog mate :>

see the difference is that it is a work car, so I dont want to go extreme...just a nice V8 sound..

Agree
I have had 2 cats back systems in the past on a Vy1 SS ute and a VY2 SS Wagon.....they are crap
Decided on the clubbie to go the full hog, complete Di Filippo front to rear, sounds the best now, what a sound :D
