Hi guys, Im about to get some genie tri-y's (thanks tre-cool) put on the old VX SS with a zorst tomorrow. Just going through some past posts i have noticed some people have actually lost power with headers and a zorst?!?! My car is completely stock and am looking forward to this mod tomorrow, however with a stock vx (225fwkw), im sure you can all understand, ya dont want a power loss! Any opinions on this, is it car/make specific or just a luck of the draw individual thing? Thanks :p

A torque loss is not unusual on a std car BUT it is far outweighed by the power gain you will get once it has a proper tune in to suit the exhaust.
You are following the right path , 300fwkw is within your grasp ;)

im in the same boat sort of, just bought a full difilippo exhaust
(4 into 1 1 3/4headers
(twin hi-flow cats
(catback muffers etc)
havent installed it yet but i was wondering with this system on my stock vx ss, + an otr + maffless tune... would i loss power or would i gain... i have read that stock ss' with 4 into 1 headers tend to lose a bit... with the tune and otr would this be fixed or did i just blow 2+ g's ?
p.s sorry to hi-jack your thread... i just cant help myself :p

The cat back will help everywhere but the 1"3/4 extractors may be too big for a stock ls1. Interesting to see if people have had good experiences with them. Might better suit a cammed car or Forced Ind.

When mine was fitted, there was a noticeable loss of power, especially in sixth cruising. Had no go at all and had to change back a cog where I normally would not. Did a PCM reset and the power came back + some.

yeh i thought that, but as the otr, tune and exhaust are the starting point and maybe a babe cam similar to yours a bit latter on. could you pm me the specs, price and any details on your cam (if you dont mind) as i think this will be the next step. eitherway i will keep you guys updated when its done and let you know what i find.
cheers,

Just installed 1.75 pacies 4 into 1 & could'nt be happier .
Have picked up a noticable power improvement from 1500rpm upwards, with a very strong midrange & top end.
I dont think these pipes are too big for a standard GEN 111 and would highly recommend them.

Have you got an MCAI and done the 2nd hole mod yet? Couple this with a decent Cat back and it'll stop it acting like a slug. Do a PCM Reset after the mods too.

I was gonna get the tune and mcai done in one hit coz Dan has a few MCAI's lying around. I can handle a little power loss from tri-y's and zorst should there be any for a little while, it will just make that tune all the more better i guess.
PS its not a cat back either its a full zorst
