Umm I am not sure yet  Will wait until I see one in the metal. Very distinctive either way!

was thinkin the exact same - first reaction on the stripes was puke, but I will wait till the motor show to decide for sure.
Err, the black one looks kinda unfinished with the coloured scoops and the boot stripes. Maybe a different colour would suit it. the yellow and black looks kinda tuff. Are those new wheels or the Z series Senator wheels?

Not for me, but could look far worse IMO. Like all the body kits and dress up bits I've seen on the coupe, only different wheels really improve on Simco & cos. original shape.
They don't look as pukey as the Ford GT-P (look at moi, look at moi) bogan bulge stripes. Again, YMMV.

Nup don't like the stripes.
I'd have the Maloo R8 instead. :)

If stripes are required they should have extended them over the roof as well.

Anyone notice this on the official site:
Further enhancements to the car’s bold street presence can be found in special badges and black brake callipers, the limited edition HSV build number painted on the boot lid in the same colour, as well as HSV 10-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels (Light Gold on Black cars and Chrome Shadow with the other combinations)
Two seperate colors of wheels and Build number on boot lid. Nice wheels, really nice wheels.

I don't mind it at all. They tried something many wouldn't expect. At least it doesn't have a ridiculous rear wing. ;)

To celebrate this news HSV has taken the opportunity to develop a special limited edition model, the ‘LE’ GTO Coupé. Only 100 will be built and they will mark the start of the 2006 production schedule.
A prerequisite for any HSV limited edition model is a distinctive standout appearance, and here the ‘LE’ GTO Coupé doesn’t disappoint. There are three exterior colours and matching interior trim sets available, each combined with striking bonnet and boot lid paint accents.
Fifty will be built in the most conservative combination of ‘Phantom Black’ with ‘Light Gold’ accents and ‘Ochre’ interior trim, 25 will come in the popular ‘Devil Yellow’ colour with ‘Black’ accents and ‘Devil Yellow’ interior trim, while the remaining 25 will be available in HSV’s classic ‘Sting Red’ paintwork with White accents and Indiana (Red) interior trim.

I like it but my first impression with the stripes was "Ford" as they have had it for 30+ years.
Other than that - all good

At least they could've selected better coulour combinations. The black is terrible. The yellow looks like some after market job

Me too.
I think the silver scoops looks cool on the black, but no rear stripes please.
Not that it really matters, I won't be buying one. (unfortunately)
EDIT: I read it's light gold, (must be this lap top) NO THANKS!

You could always change the boot lid for a stocker.

The yellow one looks like the Richmond mobile, the colors of the AFL team Richmond. If they did the black one with white stripes it could be for Collingwood supporters. Good to see something a bit different..

wont there be alot of pissed owners that allready borght a GTO LE
when the Y series came out
I like 'em, especially the lack of spoiler. Alas budget not even in that neighbourhood...
A classy inclusion in the interior when done well, but I have to say though, the individual numbering on the exterior :limpy:

Same as those owners of the Limited Edition series I and II CV8-R?
We can't satisfy everybody and we'd be fools to think that was possible.

At least on the black one...it has a sun roof so no chance of stripes going over...not enough room up for anything!

I wonder if this will be the 2006 GTO? Slap on the pontiac front and you are done.

Red & white coupe is a disappointment IMHO.

So, they are building 100 GTO LEs. My question are, is this all of them- in other words, is HSV only going to build 100 more Coupes in total, or will "ordinary" GTOs be built in addition to these. Also, when these have been built & sold, will there be any more Coupes, say after mid 2006. If these 100 Coupes are all that are ever going to be built, after which there will be no more, then I'd say they'll sell very quickly indeed!! what are your thoughts on this, particularly with respect to will these be the last 100 coupes to be built by HSV? Cheers, Pickles.

Yuck alright ... All I can say is THANK YOU HSV for making this LE so cheap and tacky looking ... I knows which GTO's will hold the greater re-sale. They wont be LE's that’s for sure.
What cheap looking stripes ... What happened did they run out of rear spoilers as well? I agree spoiler doesn’t look good on a Monaro, but on the GTO its a different spoiler and it was designed with the kit thats already on it ... it compliments the car.
Wheels are just off the Senator, BIG DEAL, they look crap anyway, don’t suite the car at all. It seems like they didn’t know what to do with this LE. A confusion between making it upmarket and boy racer. :spew:
The upgraded brakes don’t worry me ... I run AP's anyway :booty:

Selll them after mid year? There wont be any Coupe's by then I assure you.
Tooling is so shot its not funny, take a VZ coupe to any decent panel beater and ask him to take a look at the roofline and he'll show you what I mean (hint driver side). I've seen this on every VZ coupe I've come across.
Monaro went out on a bang, but the Aussie GTO lookes like with this LE is going out on a whimper. Sad really they got it so wrong. But if you have ever experienced their customer service, it doesnt surprise me one bit.

I dont like the stripes....I dont think they fit these cars. The wheels look like they came off a 7 series Bimmer...should have left them on. I love the HSV GTO spoiler and wish I could afford one.

Each to their own, I think the LE looks sensational, I'd go the Yellow/black - strong resemblance to 70's Monaro me thinks. Wasn't part of the allure of the current coupe the fact that it touched on the whole ideology of the old one.
I think HSV has done a good thing.

The colors remind me of the GST-R, being loud. At the time it was released it left people dived. Now they are highly collectable.

What is wrong with producing a car that is somewhat unique....???? The cars that HSV have produced which have held their value better than most (ie. Walkinshaw, GTS/R, VN Group A) have been mostly unique and not widely accepted as being attractive cars. I congratulate HSV on providing something that does not look like 4,000 other cars on the road. Just my opinion.

There is nothing wrong with HSV producing a car that is somewhat unique. There is nothing wrong with it not looking like 4,000 other cars. Just like there is nothing wrong with your opinion as well as other peoples opinions. Becaue their opinion doesn't match yours, doesn't mean they are wrong.
It is an opinion after all, share yours just as they share theirs. If we all agreed on the same thing, there'd be no need for opinions.
Cheers

My comments are the same as when Holden released the CV8Z, & those comments were "I think they could have done better". I actually prefer the "ordinary" GTO. Cheers, Pickles.

I am here to say I have changed my opinion on the LE. I went and had a loosky at the motor show today, and it looks HEAPS better in the flesh. I will actually say it looks tuff.
Here are the pics - which I think do more for it than the pics on the HSV site

I agree Nick.
I was @ the motor show today ... by the virtual no attention the vehicle got and most peoples comments I heard was THUMBS DOWN, that they got it wrong ... the rear bar doesn’t look right without its spoiler ... If they had a regular GTO or Coupe 4, I'd bet my car on it where the majority would be standing around and giving most attention too.
Go fast stripes suite cars from the late 60's early 70's era ... just because the Monaro then had them doesn’t mean they look good on today’s modern version of the car.
I don't think :limpy: "beige" anything, let alone stripes looks tough.

they should have attached the high spoiler to it the same as the yellow
gts r version. that would look very mean. i think

I don't like it. :( Black outs would have been tough if done tastefully, but the dicky stripes look no good. XC Cobra anyone? Stripes and nostrils? Someone photoshop it white with blue stripes...
It looks like such a rush job. I really wanted to like HSV's final offering of the Coupe too. I would prefer a normal GTO over it by heaps.

I saw the LE at the AIMS yesterday, and it looked just as crap in the flesh as it does in pics.
