I,ve just had high flow cats installed today because the standard cat on passenger side was rattling it's brains off, so i had them both replaced. The main difference i noticed was the change in the exhaust note, deffintely sounded different (better}. The throttle responce also feels better, and before you ask, my old cats were opened up too. So through my experience high flow cats are the way to go. :)

hey just wondering have u had ur car before and after dyno'd, to see what the differece is between opened standard cats and high flows because im still am contemplating getting hight flows when i get my exhaust and extractors done, if so is the change worth the extra $500

No it hasn,t been on the dyno yet but as i said the car does feel more responsive, and what i liked more was the change in exhaust note, more of a burble at idle and more aggro at wot. In my opinion i think it's worth it, the High flow cats compliments the whole system.

just open your stock cats, its cheaper and just as effective and along with headers will improve your note.

I had high flow cats fitted - dyno figures improved by 3rwkw. Does make the exhaust sound a little better but it's up to the individual if it's worth the expense. They should compliment my later mods though.

For whats it's worth ,I found fitting the high-flow cats picked up 1/10th unopened.

soz, lack of sleep ur right :bash:
3rwkw improvement? if your not chasing figures in the 10ths of seconds down the quarter would it be worth it?

Thats pretty cheap. Had a look on the website, but
couldn't find the 94000 series. Have located some
93000 series for medium to large capacity engines,
are these ok for LS1? Anyone had experience with
these converters, are they any good? Thanks :)

Edit: foundem, it's the 94006. Have you ordered
through this mob before slucas? Any probs and
how long do they take to get here?
Cheers.

not through this business no but have bought a few things on ebay from the us with no dramas but the fact that they r a power seller and have excellent feedback is very reassuring if u have a credit card and can use paypal i'd say a week and a half to 2 weeks but for me using a money order (no credit card)
i would factor in 3-4 weeks as the money order has to make it there and then clear into a bank account but 233 aud including postage is worth the wait for me :D

Thanks for the reply and PM slucas, looks too good to
resist, works out to be less than half the price it would
cost to get them here. Cheers mate.

The 3rwkw increase is comparing an old clapped out cat against a new cat, so is the throttle response and the sound.

A new hi flo magnaflow cat would have minimal difference if any compared to a newish genuine cat. Look at the cat photos on my website www.surefloexhaust.com.au

Once the heat shields are removed the magnaflow cat is not that big. The better one is the Catco. The genuine cats have a bigger cross sectional area than the Magnaflow. The bigger the cross section, the more holes for the gas to travel through.

There are different grades of catalytic converters and some are not approved for use in Australia. Magnaflow is a good brand, but make sure it has the California Approval numbers stamped in it and it should be OK for Australia.

What about warranty????
There is none if you import them yourself.
If your car has been edited and "Cat Protection" is disabled as some tuners do, cats will fail regularly.

If you are chasing performance, the best cats are the stainless steel substrate cats. They have bigger internal holes for better flow, single brick so they don't come loose, are less prone to melting down and impact damage.

If your cats are newish (under 100,000km) I wouldn't waste your money on new cats, especially ceramic ones.

Hope this helps

Cheers

but then you will have to get them fitted and flanges installed, so it will probably cost you an extra $100 or more.

I went the 2,1/2 cause i was told the 3inch would be too big for my twin 2,1/2 exh system.
