I don't want to jump the gun... but the guys in our workshop got the new Holden TIS CD the other week with the 'fix' for the fuel gauge issues.
They took my SV6 yesterday to do a test on it to make sure everything works and... So far, so good. I did a 100kms last night and everything is going like it should
I know there are a lot of different issues, mine was the hill start throwing the gauge out by as much as a 1/3 tank. I suppose that the fix should get rid of the other problems as well.

Shall keep you informed.

i'll be interested to see if it helps the thing work out a legit distance to empty figure, rather then jump from 140 k's, to 90 k's, to 70 k's, to 40 k's and start counting down from 30 in the space of 15 minutes

Tell me about it, I ran out a few weeks ago when it said 55k's to empty and gauge was btw qtr and empty. No warning display/beep, nudder, just conked out. POS is going in next week to have another look over by the dealer. Stupid thing is I've never had this problem before, just this one time it went completely haywire.

There's a hill in Hawthorne that sends the fuel gauge haywire as well. Lose 1/3 of a tank. Takes a good 30 mins or so to return to normal.

I took the car for another drive of about 100kms last night. I had 40 k's to my mum and dad's and 120kms to empty so i 'thought' i'd be right. I got 35 k's and the distance to empty went from 80 to 20 in the space of 5 k's. I thought sh*t, i'm not gonna make it home. I stopped for about two hours and went home and the gauge sort of hovered around the 16-25 k's to empty. I only had the problems for about the last eighth of the tank. The gauge dropped from the start of the red to the empty level.
I had a chat to the service manager and because we had to reprogram the ECM, PCM and cluster we thought that the computer may need to readjust with my driving "style". I'll give it another week i spose.

Hi all

Filled up the CV8Zs tank the other day and after just 80kms of normal driving the fuel gauge is at the 3/4 full mark!

Is this where its sposed to be at this range or do you reckon im stricken with the fuel gauge issue im reading so much about?

Hados...

have you guys had success with the VZ Fuel Gauge Fix?

I think my CV8Z has been struck with the bad fuel gaunge reading stick as well!!!!

I had around 5 litres left (because when i filled up it took 65L!) and the gauge was just touching the red on the dial. Also, the Distance to Empty dropped from 80km to 20km within a few mins! The interesting thing is the LOW FUEL warning didnt come up at all!

The other thing i noticed is that from full, it quickly drops to 3/4 full after just 80-100km.....then it takes a while to go down and at 300km its just touching the red line (where it stops!). Avge Fuel Consumption at the moment has been around 17-18L per 100km

I presume this is an affliction of the fuel gauge problem everyone is talking about?

Help!

By chance, I always seem to be filling the car when I get to around 45-46 litres used - just part of the weekly routine. I haven't really run the tank to low and can't say I've noticed any problems with the fuel gauge/dist to empty etc.

What I have noticed is that the fuel used seems to be reasonable accurate. If it says 45 litres used, thats about as much as the pump will indicate when filling up.

With the fuel gauge problem, is the fuel used indicated of any use or does it jump around the place as well?

Cheers,

pacer

PS - Nice colour :D

If your consumption is 17-18L/100 then 100kms per 1/4 tank is about spot on with what you should be getting... 100km 1/4 tank, 300km just on the red with 1/4 tank left.
