Looking at a new car atm as my lease is running out soon on my VX SS.

Was looking at a new SSZ but thinking mayby a new Z Series Clubby as they are not much more expensive and come with the LS2. Its is missing a couple of things that the SSZ has but the clubby has the LS2.

What money have people paid for there Z Series Clubsports ?

Is 54k driveway a good deal ? I think there should still be at least another 2k off the price.

Also what are peoples thoughts on the new colour "Glaze"??

I think thats a excellent price i paid 55k driveaway in august with a factory fitted short shifter.Havent seen glaze in the flesh but dont really like the look of it on the hsv website. From all reports i hear through the trade black and red do best at resale time just a little something to consider.

Hmmmm, think that dealer would be laughing all the way to the bank. :( Have been people on here picked up brand new SSZ sedans for about that much on the road with leather, gauges etc..

OK, yep, makes a difference. Was probably a pretty reasonable price almost a year ago. Things have changed a lot since then, especially on V8s. :(

ProVK and Clubzls2, if you don't mind my asking, where did you guys see/get your prices from? I have found a site on the web offering the basic clubsport at $53975 driveaway (which seems amazing) and was wondering if this may be the same place?

Not sure how advertising other places goes here since we already have sponsors that pay for the privilege (altough they aren't dealers) so I won't list the site. PM me if you wish, as I am considering upgrading with prices this low. (makes me wish I hadn't just sunk 4k into my current one  making the missus angry :bash: )

Thanks. :)

Prior to going to a new lease you have to try to future proof your lease (crystal ball stuff).
VX SS, great car in their day (I had one), now we have 6.0L LS2 etc.
I would be purchasing a Clubsports (R8) with a 6M, as the grape vine suggests that the VE will have a 6 speed auto, and possibly at this stage a 6.0 L motor.

When VE comes out it will wipe out anything before it, the SSZs, the CV8Zs, the 6.0 litre clubbies, they will all be as appealing as VN SS pretty soon.

Hi there VZSS250, that is an interesting statement. I haven't heard too many people unhappy with their 6 Litre Clubby!! So, what are your predictions for VE that have prompted your comment? : Engine options & power, transmissions, wheels, brakes etc etc. Cheers, Pickles.

And thanks to Holden/HSV for the absolute shit resale values on 1-3 yr old cars now. Used to be you could count on a reasonable deprieciation with HSVs but now its bollocks. Ive been offered under 58k for my 04 R8 with 8000kays on it, this car new listed at 89k in NZ (I did not pay that) but if I had thats about 35% in under a year. That used to be the resale value after 3 yrs so I say again Thanks very bloody much Holden just keep on giving your new cars away meanwhile pissing off all your current owners. Jeez it would be cheaper to buy an m3 in the longterm as at least the percentage lost would be less.

Jay
And plz dont put this all on petrol prices as this is something that has been getting worse with Holden for the last few years.

$49,999 - probably plus ORC but it may be drive away if you turn up with the cash :)
it shows how much trouble they are in when that is only $6K above list price of an SV8

Saw a black VZ clubby here in Perth at a Holden Dealer for $49k! and pretty sure you can always get atleast another 2-3k of the asking price on most cars! so $46-47k would be sweet :D

Just looking at Carsales today and I am amazed at the range of prices for new VZ Clubbies and also R8's.

Ranging from around $62k down to $49k as VYBerlinaV8 said!

Think I may wait till Jan to pick one up. I was budgeting for a Clubbie but at this rate hopefully get an R8 instead :D

Looks as though there are some great deals to be had on these HSVs and Commodores also for that matter. Wonder how long it will last??????

Unfortunately fleet sales and novated/company leasing are what are diminishing the resale price of ALL cars these days.

I reckon the best bet, unless you desire/can afford to take a big hit (on recommendced retail pricing), is to buy year old or similar.

No,they're not new, but there are savings to be made.

Problem is with huge new car discounts, and with late model sellers not wanting to drop much, you are better off buying new with a great discount.

Late model used LS2's wont drop much until an update comes out.

I've been buying late models for years, but new HSV's look great value...just remember that when VE arrives, you're steering an old model, so what you save now will be gobbled up very quickly.

VZ R8 $57k drive away from Eagers. They had VZ clubbie for $48 driveaway. These are brand new.

Zupps had a black auto VZ R8 for $56,838 advertised. I called and put a deposit on it and offered them an extra $1K if he could get me a manual and surprise surprise they rang me back at 3pm to say it was sold but they had another colour they could offer.

Funny thing was that I rang each dealer to advise them I had done the deal with Zupps and bought one, one dealer said that when Zupps call back in the afternoon and say it had already been sold, give him a call and he will do the deal and he had red or black.
GF loves it, I think it is average. I dont know what everyone was raving about the 6ltr over the 5.7ltr. Only thing better is the soft rev limiter.

A big thankyou to Markone for calling me on the sat morn the add was in the paper, Rhys bennet for collecting it and Rick will wax u for driving it down to Syd for me. GF is happy which is the main thing.

I still think HSV's are better value than the SS or SSZ especially with the deals at the moment and the HSV will always hold better resale value. A good example is someone has already offered me $43k on my black 2002 GTO. Dont know whether to let it go or do something like HRT 427.

Can't belive the pricing on the new Z series HSV's I brought mine back in August and it was $58000 drive away, now seeing the deals their doing maybe I should have waited but I'm the type of guy that if I want something I just go and do it. I'm sure when the VE HSV's come out it will knock pricing around again but dosen't this happen with each new model?

I'm not a Clubby expert but when talking base Clubby (not R8) the SSZ has leather, gauges (carbuncles?? :D ) and (I think) better brakes. It certainly has better brakes than standard SS and I know the R8 has good brakes but not sure how good the standard Clubby brakes are.

And plz dont put this all on petrol prices as this is something that has been getting worse with Holden for the last few years.

Yeah - petrol prices no doubt play a SIGNIFICANT part in V8 depreciation. But I suspect that there is another significant factor. Consider the guy who bought a 195 kW 5L VT . . . and then found out that my poverty pack VY SV8 has 40 kW more in standard tune. Not a good look for the HSV owner? The VZ SS now pumps out as much as the first Gen III HSV - 250 kW. So what do you want? A 5 year old HSV or a new SS with the same power?

How will the VE be better than the VZ? Let's hope suspension for a start. Where a an SV8 or SS is making wheel spin, the XR6 turbo is often making traction and darting into the fray. Rumour has it that the VE will have a better rear suspension. My VY has the control links and they are NOT a complete answer as far as I am concerned. The rear tyres continue to wear out (just a tad) on the inside edges. Isn't this a sign that they are not sitting flat on the tarmac? If so, how can I expect best possible traction?

SS has leather as Option, so does Clubsport. Clubsport has HSZ Performance Brakes, SSZ doesnt.

Someone asked about VE HSV..... A Small snippet: I do know that a Tyre supplier is testing for them at the moment and it looks like 275/20 for rear & 245/20 front ;)

Yeah but the original question was "what does the SSZ have the Clubby does not?", so the SSZ has leather as standard whereas to get it on the base Clubby you have to fork over another $2,200 or so (based on SS pricing for leather).

I know you guys cannot see into the Future but Im very keen on buying a Series 2 VZ R8 just as the VE is coming into place.. Im guessing this will probably be the best time of all to purchase a VZ HSV..

Now to the question. What do you guys think I will be looking at paying? ive heard of 05 stock Z R8's selling for 55k drive away.. even a tad less..

Anyone care to take a punt on what i might be able to pick one up for on road? I was going to go for a VZ S2 Berlina V8 but at these prices and what the R8 comes with features wise.. you would be silly not to get a HSV.

At this stage HSV Dealers have been labouring to clear an overstock of 05 build cars hence the crazy prices. The build numbers have apparently been drastically reduced for 06 build VZ (not a series 2) to avoid having to give away stock at the end of VZ model, but its anyone's guess....
