Sydney Hail Warning for the Greater Sydney Area. Already seen small hailstones in the St Leonards Area.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Greater Metropolitan has been CANCELLED.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Greater Metropolitan. No further warnings are expected.

They cancelled a similar warning up here one year .... about $5 million worth of damage later the meteorological centre said "Oops! It shifted course .... Guess we got that one wrong"

We had hail in Turramurra ... cars undercover though so no worries.

weird... blue skys here in parra...doesnt even look like there was a chance of anything falling out of the sky...

Drove through a little bit of ball bearing sized hail in North Sydney. Lasted about 2 minutes.

Aaaahhh - they changed their minds a bit...

For people in parts of the
Northern Rivers and
Mid North Coast Forecast Districts.



Issued at 2:35 PM Tuesday, 25 October 2005.



Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours.


Major locations within the warning area include Grafton and Coffs Harbour.


The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 13 2500.



The next warning is due to be issued by 5:35 PM.

Still storms going through the Southern Highlands, Nowra and Dapto/Roberston from the weather radar.

The storms in the Sydney Basin earlier formed close to the coast rather than over the mountains. Looks clear now.

Just had a look at their radar (http://mirror.bom.gov.au/products/IDR283.shtml) and looks like some heavy rain/hail already
