Anyone else catch this, was just on now. 300hp, 500kg, 0-100 in 2.66 secs I think they said.

OMG, I just want one  They said should meet Aussie compliance 2006.

They don't seem to have a website, but lots of sites with reviews:

How much fun would one of these be!!

Jeremy Clarkson reviewed one on Top Gear last year. Said something like "anyone who wants to know how a car should behave should drive one of these"

The website is: http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/

and there's a 2nd hand market at VERY reasonable prices.

I've got the Top Gear episode if your interested.

I was watching that top gear episode about five minutes before it came on the TV

Much better review on top gear as you would imagine, they know how to really test a car. The enzo went around their test track in 1:19 and the atom did 1:19.5, very tough!!

As great as the Atom is I think I'd rather one of these...Elfin (http://www.elfin.com.au/flash/index.aspx)

Top gear video can be downloaded from the Ariel website under the press section.

Would be an awesome car to drive.

The Elfin wasnt what i expected around a track... The PRB's still leave them in its wake. Its still too heavy and getting the power to the ground could be improved... A great car, yes, but not the contender to the PRB that i expected.
But the decked out Atom with a Civic type R engine with a small blower on it really is something amazing! :D

Grif

ooo baby, Atoms are a great piece of kit!

I had a drive of one at Oran Park in July (base model 160 bhp version that is) and it was awesome! I wrote about it here...
http://www.ls1.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=40505&page=3

I would sell a kidney to have either a 160 hp or 220 hp version. I reckon I would poo my pants/kill me/kill someone else if I had the 300 hp version!

The website for the Australian/NZ distributor is...

Very cool, but who would want to be in one when you accidently take on a truck?

They're not designed to be driven along the hume between sydney and melbourne...

They're a track car, a sunday car, a great ocean road car, a (insert favorite piece of road here) car...

What an incredible machine! I saw the Top Gear report on it, and it beat a motorbike (sorry, don't remember which sort, I'm not into bikes) around a circuit. Crazy stuff!

The Atom should steal HSV's slogan :booty:

If memory serves correctly it was a CBR 600 RR, and although a cool comparison I could demonstrate how my clubby could beat a bike around a track if I careful chose the bike (and the rider was instructed on what speed to ride), and the track.

Not to take anything away from the Atom, not at all, it a bloody nice piece of kit (especially for the price!)

Are you suggesting it was staged to let the atom win?? and the rider was told not to go too fast?? That's absolute crap. Pull your head in.

Motor's recent 911 Turbo vs bike article showed a fast car can almost beat a fast bike... The atom is in another league, especially around corners, compared to even the amazing 911 Turbo.

Which bike do you intend to race your clubby against?? a Auspost postie bike?? even money on that battle... anything else and it's goodbye HSV. :stick:
