I have an 05 VZ V8 Calais. Can anyone tell me what the standard brake set up is for my car?

I find I have to press the brakes far harder than I would expect to pull up quickly and would like to upgrade. If fitting, say, VZ Monaro or HSV brakes would solve this, i would be interested in doing so.

So can anyone tell me what size and specification my car currently has, what the VZ Monaro and SS have, what the late model HSV's have and what size the HSV and HBD performance brakes are?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Stock front brakes for Calais are 296mm vented front and 286mm solid disc rear

PBR PK1 Performance brake package will cure your ills.
330mm front vented slotted C5 vette caliper.
315mm rear vented slotted
RRP $2500..... seems there are deals around cheaper if you know where to shop.

VZ Monaro brakes are 320mm vented front 286mm vented rear (HBD spec I believe)
VZ HSV Clubsport.. some came with AP 4 pots front and back... 350mm front 332mm rear.... can be optioned with 6 pot AP's too... 362mm front 343mm rear. (4 pot)

If you want an *inexpensive* limited brake upgrade, that will however dramatically improve pedal feel, initial bite and fade resistance, look at a set of slotted front/rear rotors (can get DBAs stock size for around $220/pair) and a set of decent brake pads all round like EBC Greenstuff or or other street/track pad.

Also - maybe your brakes just need a flush/bleed and some higher quality fluid?

Of course if you want serious stopping power go for the bigger brake upgrades suggested; just a lot more $$$ to fork out ;)
