just started a new job and have found that my weekly driving is now adveraging 10.2/100 k's from what i thought was good 11.8/100 k's.
yes now mostly on 100 km/h ring road plus only 2 sets of lights. i now travell about 100 k's per week further but use less petrol? bloody brilliant.

Thats pretty damn good, my last tank netted me
just over 15l/100. Since edit I have added Headers,
different catback, PB 25% UD Balancer and OTRCAI
and I think my tune may need some attention. I was
hoping it was my driving habits with the new mods,
but not so sure now. Was averaging around the 13l/100
on the same trip with just the header change.

Just put a full tank of fuel in the SS, i travelled 415km and it only took 45ltr to completely fill it which works out to be 10.8/100.
It was a combination of city driving and to and from work on the westgate freeway.

would love to borrow a edit'd LS1 for a week to see what kinda economy i could get out of it...

i drive from essendon to the city every morning (not on freeway) in all 50-60kph zones bumper to bumper traffic copping pretty much every single red light  and then home again... getting 9L/100km in a tiny 1.5L econobox as is, granted i have to push it a bit due to the lack of guts but i try my best not to open up the secondarys unless im really late

but i would love to see how a healthy chev would fair in the same conditions

i get around low 10,s with country roads and around 15/16 ltrs/100km city driving..

What economy have people got after an edit?? post your before and after consumption for all us to see...I am planning an edit soon and would love to know the differences.

Cheers

b4 edit, working in reservoir was 12.5-12.8 nearly every week, after edit was 11.3-11.8 but first week was  15/100k's
this is with otrcai & maffless edit (GM Motorsport) and 2.5 catback are the only mods so far, gears will be next.

these threads come up all the time. youll get 10l/100 on 90-110kmh average.

anyone doing a decent amount of 1st and 2nd stop start stuff in heavy traffic will have a hard time getting under 15l/100. anything between these figures are just in varying speeds and stop start amounts. if youre sitting in 10kmh traffic most of the week, youll probably sit on 17-19l/100km. this is stock, cams obviously change things. there really isnt any point in bragging, its completely down to average speed and low gear usage.

absolutely spot on agree with alexcs.

Right on, Alexcs. It all depends on the conditions, the right foot and the traffic. Most of us with V6's will be getting around 800k's to the tank, country driving, and 550 - 600 around town, there's one guy (on this forum) who's father (I think) with a V6 stato gets 900+ to a tank, driving from Sydney to Melbourne, but I feel that's "economy" driving.
Just the same, the figures some guys get out of Gen III's is pretty amazing.
I wonder if the current Ford advertising about better fuel economy is just hype considering the poor record of AU - BA models.

it doesnt matter. everyone drives differently, at different avg speeds, and different amounts of stop start. theres so many variables i dont see the point, unless youre getting wildly bigger figures than everyone else (which is easily searchable) then you may have a problem with your engine or tune, see a mechanic etc.

of all the things to brag about, fuel consumption is the most meaningless.

avg 15/l per 100km with a cam, exhaust, etc. This is a mixture of 6th gear 115km on the Freeway and some back roads to get to work. It's enjoyable - any higher and I wouldn't be able to enjoy the car as much as the cost would skyrocket. 450km to 500kms per tank is acceptable.

hey fellas i'm not bragging, just curious. yes i'm lucky that a : i live semi rural and the first 7 km is 100km/h then 10 km at 80 km/h, first set of lights probably 2 km at 60 km/h then 2 km at 80 km/h then 9 km at 100 km/h of ring road another set of lights, then 2 more sets of lights at 80 km/h then 60km/h for the last 1-2 km.
yes for some this would be country driving but for me this is my daily drive to work. from home to work i have seen 9.3 and adveraging 83 km/h.
b: i use the loud pedal gently and don't have many chances to give her a BOOT full at the lights.
c: of a weekend, thats a totally different number
d: with only 6 sets of lights includind ped crossings, not much stop start. :booty:
cheers Garry
p.s a few weeks back a country trip gave me 8.3-8.4 l/100k's so it's good on the run.

my dad drove to ballina then on to lismore then back to ballina then back to lismore the next morning and hit the 900km out of a tank.trip started in sydney's north west and he drove his vy series 2 exec V6.

My car over a 15km stretch of flattish road
87kph - 9.0L/100km
110kph - 9.7L/100kph

Last 3 tanks average 15.1L/100km
at average speed 54kph

Head shave and port gave me an extra 1.2-1.5L/100km economy
