Can anyone tell me the part number for the
monaro leather shift boot, the one that has
the same shape base as the VT-VX Series.
Have given the part numbers from the
forum parts thread to Kerry Holden in
Darwin and they say they don't exist.
He has found one for $80, but cant tell
off the screen whether it is leather and
also thinks that is too cheap for leather.
I am after black with silver stiching, but
I think they would all be the same part
number. Thanks in advance

These are the numbers for the Monaro series I gearknob and boot, they fit the VX/VT II, shaped identical. The gearknob is definately leather, the boot I am not so sure about. However it is stiched up to look the same as the gearknob. These have black with black/dark grey stitching.

Gear knob - 92112851
Boot - 92145789

Thanks moto, just gave Kerry's a ring and gave them
that part number, he quotes me V2 Monaro shift
boot $85.90 but cannot say if it is leather or not,
like his colleage earlier he also reckons that is way
too cheap for a leather shift boot. I thought $85
would be plenty for a small piece of stitched leather.
Thanks again mate, much appreciated :)

Dont know if it will help but I recently changed the knob and leather boot in my VU for a modified short stick with the VZ knob and boot. This came with the square shaped plastic retainer and all i had to do was unclip the VZ retainer and restaple it to the one out of my VU. The leather boot will just fit over the oval shaped retainer.

I looked at doing the Monaro leather boot through my local Holden spares and going the Monaro shift boot (to suit the VT/VX) was going to cost around $84.00 + GST, whereas the pricing for the VY/VZ stuff was quoted at around $42.50 + GST. They were equally confused about my requests and took some time to nail down exactly what i wanted. I am really happy with the result, the only thing i couldn't get was the hyper stiching (which is an option on the monaro boot) but the unit i obtain was already preassembled and was cheaper than the cost of buying all the pieces from Holden.

Thanks SS_BRUTE, I too have adapted a VY leather
one to the VT2/VX Base, but since putting a complete
new shifter in I have found the back of the boot is
too short and pulls out of the console when I put the
car in first gear, unfortunately there isn't enough
leather left to lengthen and reglue it either.

motomk....Some photos would be great if you have
time, Email macaelss@bigpond.net.au
Much appreciated

Could someone with a V2 Monaro possibly have a
quick look/smell of their gearshift boot and tell me
if they think it is leather? Motomk has sent me
photos and it looks like it could be leather, just
want to be sure for $85, would be much appreciated :)

Ok I have a Leather VY boot too. The one I sent you a picture of is not leather. It has a white cloth backing. I can only suggest the stitching pushes the price up!

Damn, bloody cheapskates
Maybe none of the Monaro's came with leather
boot, might have to chase up a Clubsport one,
maybe they are leather.
Thanks for the help moto :)
