Has anyone had to replace this part and can give me a rough idea of price and whether it needs to be resprayed to match the car or can you get them prepainted and hope for a close match?

Hi Rod, no advice on a replacement, but curious to know why...

I had mine broken off and was looking at replacing it. I managed to glue the flat cover back onto the arm that 'swings' out...was a tricky job, but got it back to within a mm or two.

I was under the impression I would need to buy the whole assembly (cover, arm and mounting plate) and have it painted, hence why I went for the home fix first up.

I was considering that as a cheap bodge up as well, especially if its going to need to go to a spray painter. As to how I did it, I have noone to blame but myself. I was filling up at the servo when I walked past the car to return the nozzle to the bowser I brushed past the flap bending it towards the front of the car too far and snapped it clean off. You'd think I'd be more careful as I did the same thing on my previous SS  but a moments lapse in use of the brain is all it takes :(

Can I ask which glue you found to work best as I had a lot of trouble gluing the previous one even though it didnt come right off but developed a crack and would flop a bit.

Yeah, well, depending on the break, if you line it up perfect, you really can't tell...give it a shot before you go through the process I say.

Grab some Araldite.

Araldite worked for mine too.
I came back from shopping to find mine broken off and placed up on my windscreen??? I can only guess someone pryed it open to steal some fuel and was nice enough to pick up the broken flap off the ground for me.
I actually broke it off again myself after gluing it by doing the same "walk past hanging up the fuel hose" thing.

You can buy them relatively inexpensively ($30) but they only come unpainted. Better off checking out a wreckers and seeing it they have one already painted in your colour.
