In the latest Wheels mag its says that all the new Ford Falcons from XT-FPV pass the new emission laws that come into efect on 1st of Jan 2006 (euro III?)
Does anybody know for sure if any of the current Commodore range pass these emission laws?
Or is this still something they will have to work on? And if so will they able to keep the power the same?

Why'd you reckon they ditched the Ecotec?
Both the Alloytec and LS2 meet EuroIII requirements.

LS1s don't, that is one of the reasons that the LS2 was implemented. I don't think that the VZ has to comply because it was a current model before 1/1/06. The BF did not have to but Ford did it anyway. I think the BF2 late next year will be the one that has to comply as well as the VE.
An interesting point with this euro3 and the ADRs that go with it is that it will be a major offence to mod a euro 3 car out of compliance and all of them will have a computer on board that monitors compliance.
Also our nice police forces have already purchased roadside emmission & noise gizmos ready to swoop.
I hope we have not seen the end of "modded performance"......
MOTOR 2007..... The VE GTS just nosed over the line ahead of the BL GTHO with a 17.8 @ 135km/h

....which is why the GTS is such a great buy. Awesome performance, coupled to luxury styling and....who cares, look at that, it runs 17's, its a screamer! Absolutely runs like, to phrase another humorous individual, a raped ape. Redlining at 135km/h down the quarter shows how much torque it has and how quickly it can turn it on!. And if Holden is not your thing, then there is the timeless GTHO which came in at an even 18 seconds. Why the .2 seconds difference? Put it down to the reocurring of the Falcons weight problems, but rest assured, with the right driver, it will run 17's and give the inexperienced GTS driver a good showing. For those who cant handle such stupendous amounts of power, and with these times who could blame you for having a slightly fainter heart, you could always go for the lower spec models. ie, the Holden SS and Falcon XR range, which will see you into the low 20's.
With modern development and the introduction of new emission standards, watch out for slower times near you!.....

I'm just curious, does that mean ls2 will be in the ss from next year.

just reading a similar thread over at aff. youd think that euro3 compliance and 6 speed auto have transformed the BF, the way some of the children are carrying on.
i would think that both ford and holden would be well aware of emissions regulations years ahead of time and would be in the position to compensate for the new regulations without too much drama. if ford could pass euro3 without too much drama so could holden.
holden just dont want to spend the money to upgrade the ls1. it wouldn't make sense, not when it will be phased out eventually in favour of ls2. :)
