I have just ordered a Pontiac GTO Hood Kit (with scoops) through my local Holden Dealer.
Apparently, Holden Dealers are for a limited time offering the Pontiac GTO Hood Kit, Part No. 92181117. This kit contains all the parts required to update VT, VX, VU and early Monaro to the 2005 Pontiac GTO Hood.
These kits are not normally available in Australia as they are for export only and are in limited numbers.
The Pontiac GTO Hood Kit looks fantastic with the scoops and I can’t wait to fit it to my vehicle.

That cool.. Ive seen one on a red ute around Adelaide, make sure you post some pictures..
I have to get hold of "pagey" to find out how easy it is to get hold of the glass one for the VY
Good luck Rob

Commodoreking, mind if I ask what they are charging you for it? A bonnet mod is high on my list of things to do, but I was looking at aftermarket as opposed to Holden.
Are they also able to colour match and fit, or is it parts only?
Thanks. :)

The kit definitely contains all the parts required to update VT, VX, VU and early Monaro to the 2005 Pontiac GTO Hood (scoops, ducts, hood, plugs, tape, rivet, insulator and retainers).

When you say bonnet kit, do you mean the complete bonnet ,no paint ?
Which will not fit a VY or VZ for those who are confused..
but there are custom VY & VZ bonnets with the scooped bonnet cut in, and then there is Pageys Glass one .

There is a new guy on the Gold Coast (from Sydney) that is just starting up a bussiness making the fluted bonnets to suit VY as well as older models VP/VN/VS etc.. not sure about them.. but will no doubt have plenty of interest.
Don't have his details on hand ATM.

Not as a kit.
Dealers had to make the kit up from parts.
Dealers have only had access to this part since about June.

Fiberglass VY (like on my Adventra) available in Sydney $650
VT, VX, VZ also available, $550.
Mine is being painted this weekend, my painter said best fibreglass job he had seen, very straight and smooth with excellent under bonnet quality.
Fitted it myself in under an hour, measured to the outside of the bonnet from the side of the brackets, bonnet fitted perfect with no further adjustments, this means the maker's dimensions were perfect.
He makes HSV fronts as well.

I have no vested interest here apart from a great deal I thought.

The Pontiac GTO Hood Kit that I ordered through my local Holden Dealer has arrived.
I am getting the hood kit painted and fitted by my Holden Dealer as it comes with the benefit of a great warranty.
Until I spoke to my Holden Dealer, I didn’t know that if it is fitted by them that the part is covered by Holden’s warranty for 2 years or 50,000kms.
Although, if the part is installed by anyone other then a Holden Dealer, it is covered by Holden’s warranty for 1 year only and that doesn’t include the labour and materials etc to fit and paint the part.
At least, if it’s done by my Holden Dealer I know the job will be done to the manufacturer’s standards.

How exactly would a bonnet "fail" ? Does it stop working as a bonnet and become a door?
Im trying to think how a bonnet would need a warranty claim. You use the existing struts (cheap anyway) or maybe the bonnet catch (again very cheap) but the bonnet itself cant possibly require a warranty claim. $1100+ fitted or the same from aftermarket for $550. Of course they need painting but Holden doesnt warrant that, the panel shop does .... well sometimes. Try making a claim.
