Everyone knows the easiest way to pull a burnout in a manual car, but can anyone tell me exactly how they go about doing a decent one in a Gen III? Especially with limited movement/on the spot style?? Is it a simple case of revving the piss out of her and balancing the clutch or..............??

How To Do A Burn Out

First make sure Traction Control is disengaged (if you have it)!

Automatic: Use your left foot to step on the brake just enough to prevent the car from rolling forward, then, with your right foot, slam down the gas. Slowly release brake when you want to start moving.

Manual: Put the shifter into 1st gear. (Some people do 2nd, see what works best for you). Push the clutch in and rev it up to about 4k RPMs, then quickly remove your foot from the clutch pedal and move it over to the brake pedal. The idea is to use as little braking force as necessary to prevent the car from rolling forward. When you want to make your getaway, simply slowly release the brake pedal and you should start moving forward and leave some nice tire marks in the process!

A line lock is a device that is connected to the brake lines going to the front tires. This will allow the driver to engage only the front brakes, so that the rear brake pads are not burnt away as you do your burn out.

Cheers

is ezy....

first..disconnect handbrake (so nothing can stop da rear whls :D )
second... fit skinny crossply tyres on steel wheels (no wearing out ya fatties)
third.. remove rear ressy so it sounds trooly sick
forthly...fill tank with Opticrap..them Shell people reckon ya get more horses
fiddly..turn OFF air conditioning..more room for smoke in cabin
sixly..turn OFF traction control ..no computer is gunna stop this
seventhly...find area away from plod and council officers..no getting booked
eightly.... take drum of diesel outta boot and tip on the ground
ninthly.. back rear wheels into diesel pool on ground
finally
select first gear, revv GenIII to high rpm and suddenly release clutch

the result..???
da smoke, sheeeza bewdifoool...
and the noise..mate, da noise..even better

all the above is obviously tongue in cheek and not guaranteed to work
or ensure your personal safety or keep you outta jail

You guys have got it ALL WRONG......

Tyres these days are VERY expensive, so it is necessary to use a little bit of lateral thinking when you decide to burn up a set of tyres......

Here's what you do:

1. Ring up Avis / Thrifty / Europecar and order a bog stock Dunnydore (same stud pattern as your car is important!)

2. Pick up car and swap your rear wheels with 2 of the wheels off the hire car.

3. Burn up tyres....

4. Swap with the other 2 tyres off hire car.... (This is very important, coz you have to return the hire car with equally worn tyres or they will suspect something!)

5. Repeat step 3

6. Put your wheels back on your car, and hire car wheel back on hire car.

7. Return hire car.

So there you have it, you've had a good couple of hours fun, destroyed a set of perfectly good tyres and it's probably only cost you $60-75 for the pleasure!

This has been a community service announcement!

sounds to me a slipping clutch... ive never had any problem in my ute, second gear is much better. I found 1st gear no good for me at the drags :) (the textralia clutch is just perfect for gettin the power to the rears )

Dan

Ps dont do it on the street, youll get into trouble !!!

that isn't going to work. you didn't mention anything about putting a drum of diesel in the boot to start with.

how much would it suck to get out to secret spot only to find that you didn't have the diesel cos smitty didn't tell you to put it in the car

old thread i know

Very informative.

Why use your left foot off the clutch to the brake?

Why not put heal of right foot on brake, toes on accelerator leaving the left foot free to depress the clutch as you shift gears to keep it off the rev limiter.

If you like diesel or oil all over your car use that or if you want to save your tyres and go for show, use dishwashing liquid, is clear smokes up awsome and it just washes off with water and your tyres are fine.

just my 2c worth from a mispent youth driving fokes vl 5sp

exactly, if you want to truely impress your mates with the whitest of all white smoke.. soak the tyres in bleach over night, fit them to your burnout machine of choice and go ape..

Forget that... you could get yourself a set of chasers for less, and they'll smoke like hell! Some tyre shops will actually let you get an old set of rubbers to put on your chasers (tell em you want it for the farm basher or something)...

^^^ like peber said tell them its for something else, wreckers charge a premium for skid rims. I find if you call up and tell em its for a box trailer and get a quote on the phone it works out cheaper, $15 a rim w/rubber

And for goodness sake - DON'T tip diesel or oil on the road. Some poor sap hitting a slippery patch could kill themselves or somebody else.

If you've every hit a patch of diesel on the road unawares, you'll know it's an unpleasant experience.

I followed a bus through the twisty Mt Dandenongs with its fuel filler cap off and diesel splashing all over the road. Just the sort of thing you DON'T want to find when you're out for a fang on your YZF 1000 Yamma Ha Ha.

yes I have seen the same thing Pah, lucky I was in the tin top at the time.
However, I overtook the bus, slowed to a stop forcing him to stop also, and told him he was pissing fuel all over the road, he just shrugged and gave me a mouthful... then waited for me to move. Go figure. Guess he wasn't a "rider" hey fella. :D

His nuber plate shoulda read FCKWIT01
