Hi Everyone,
I've just placed an order for my very first HSV (Z Clubby) which will arrive mid Dec. I can't wait. I'm doing some research now into the modifications I can make to increase power, torque, etc. I'm only really interested in changing the exhaust and maybe an LS2 edit. I've searched the forum first which answered some of my questions, but I still have a few outstanding which I hope you can help me with.

1) I was looking at buying 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 ceramic coated 4 into 1 headers, but I read somehwere that the 'Z' Clubby already has the 1 3/4 standard?

2) I was going to leave the cats alone. I believe the standard cats are already opened to 2 1/2"?

3) I was going to replace the exhaust from cats back with stainless dual 2 1/2" because the standard exhaust is only 2 1/4"?

4) I know PT do LS2 Edits, but is there anyone on the southside who can do it?

I'm also keen to upgrade the 6 speaker audio to at least the same specs as the R8 which is 10 speaker including subwoofers.

a) I guess the my question is where would the extra speakers and subwoofers go? I'm sure 2 speakers would go into the parcel shelf, but where do HSV hide the 2 subwoofers?

b) Is upgrading the sound system as simple as buying the speakers and cables or do I have to buy an amplifier as well?

c) Also, I would like to change the head unit, but I've heard it can't be done? Apparently you can only place a new head unit into the compartment below the stereo?

Thanx heaps. :)

Z Series only has manifolds as standard. Couple of options here are to get some short 4-1's like the CSV ones, or you can get a set of long DiFillipo 4-1's and replace the whole system with the DF one. I'm going with the CSV ones on my R8.

2) I was going to leave the cats alone. I believe the standard cats are already opened to 2 1/2"?

Again, I'm leaving the cats and the dual pipes from the cats alone. I replaced the section behind the 3" sections with some pipework from Greg at Sureflo running dual hotdog middle mufflers and a new rear resonator. You will need to open up the top end of the cats when you fit headers.

3) I was going to replace the exhaust from cats back with stainless dual 2 1/2" because the standard exhaust is only 2 1/4"?

Just replace from the first section of piping back where is starts to merge.

4) I know PT do LS2 Edits, but is there anyone on the southside who can do it?

No idea, I'm from Sydney :-)

Just so I don't seem biased or anything, I had the DF headers on my old VXII R8 and they were great. The Z series exhaust is not too bad for a stockie, except the manifolds and a couple of squashed sections.

The jury still seems to be out as there have been good results with both full DF systems, and combinations of 4-1 shorties and new rear sections.

It will be well worth the 40min. trip to get it done properly

The Subs are the speakers on the parcel shelf. 8" i think.
